I've heard the first number on the California license plate mean things... 3,4,5,.....

Does anybody know? Is that regional thing (LA county, OC,...)? purchased/leased/financed? class? type?

Been in the car business 20 plus years and I never heard of that...Imao it would be impossible to do that considering the volume of cars each and every year since there is on 7 digits to a plate and so many different countys.

    Why did you ask?

I think Mickey is correct regarding plate numbers. Unless you specificy some (IDIOTIC) tag for your plate, the state issued numbers have no bearing on state, factory origin or any other such basis. May I say, as a personal offering - - - do not put anything on your plate that identifies you individually. Titles like "SEXY 100" or "I'M AVAILABLE" and the like only draw attention. Don't go there. We are who we are - - our cars don't need to advertise for us.
    Cheers, Hank
