Just finished the California Mille with my Series 1 Cab. Great tour and perfect weather up and down the Napa Valley. The generator failed the first day so I had to buy a new battery and switch the battery after every 6 hours of running. Lots of charging at night. So my question-where can I send my generator for a rebuild that doesn't take several months? Who has had good luck with a supplier?

    Thanks

Select Electric in Berkeley rebuilt a Lucas generator and a Marelli alternator for me. They are (or at least used to be) off Gilman.

Even when everything is in fine order with the inside plug generator, charging isn't that stellar. Could be because the direct drive unit doesn't spin as fast as the belt drive one. Keeping the battery charge topped up between drives has been my solution to the problem.

I purchased a couple of these generators/alternator with internal regulator from Mark at GTO Engineering. The first one that I got has been used for about a year and has been very good. I haven't put the second one on yet. The case is aluminum. We added fake screws, etc, to make it look more authentic, but is very close otherwise. Mark has finished the ventilation straps, which also came out nice, even though there is no real vent there on these.

Joe, you can email me if you want more information on this.

Looks close, but the Marchal horn relay doesn't quite look like a Marelli voltage regulator.

Look close and "read". I said that it's internally regulated, which will allow a wide range of applications. Always happy to help with constructive comments and needs.

Yes Ferrari, used Marelli relays on the regulator.
But this is not a Horn relay on top Brian.
    the horn relay has 3 poles/connections .
this one was constructed with only 2 poles.
    the original box says:
    "
Conjoncteur disjonteur de marque Marchal Vaucanson pour dynamo en 12 voltes, pour autos des années 50/60."
