This should clear everything up: Produce Section Bursts Into Laughter After Will Ferrell Makes Casual Remark About Apples LOS ANGELESPatrons of the Trader Joe's grocery store on La Brea Avenue and Third Street broke out into gales of spontaneous laughter when fellow shopper and movie star Will Ferrell made a casual comment about apples. "I haven't had a good apple in a while," Ferrell said in the produce section, causing several nearby shoppers to giggle and nod appreciatively at the overheard remark. "Are Paula Reds any good? I wonder if they're sour like a Granny Smith." Ferrell said that, although he appreciates his fans' support, he really wanted a straight answer about the apples.
For all of you not in the know, our buddy Emil is thinking of switching coasts on us and moving to LA. DON'T DO IT EMIL!!! NY is better in every way (except the weather).
No you're not. You just THINK you're moving out there. However, I will agree that having two residencies is ok. As long as you spend more time in NY. EC!!!!!
Sad that we are going to loose most of our crew to California but I know that California is now going to have a VERY active region. As for which state to live in, each one has it's pros and cons. LIVING Cost of living is higher is NYC but is it worth it? I will let you be the judge. California has nice areas but you have EARTHQUAKES . LOCATION I mean if you really think about it California is California but what else is around it? You have Nevada which is pretty dead outside of Vegas and it is hot as a mother there. Unless you have a TON of money Vegas would get boring. In New York you have everything around. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and even Florida are so close. When people talk about biggest cities in the US, NYC is usually number one. LIFESTYLE A draw as each town has their clubs and hang out spots. Even the hotel category is a draw because both states have their big cities. CARS California might be better because their weather is better and owners get to drive their cars more but NYC does have a lot of cars to and they overall drive them regardless.
What else is around it? Tahoe, Pacific Northwest, Baja, and if NY gets Florida then CA gets Hawaii... As someone who likes biking, mountains, skiing, and other stuff that's outdoors, I'm sorry to say that NY is in a pretty bleak location, and CA is hard to beat both for what's around it and for how much of the year you can take advantage of it (and that goes for both winter AND summer sports!) Where NY beats everywhere else is in the city itself, with its high energy, incredible intensity, and constant availability of endless activities that go with such a city. But for surroundings I'd take Washington/Oregon, Mexico, and Nevada over New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut/Rhode Island!
Go to www.findyourspot.com and take the quiz.... I didn't take this one, but took a similar one that was really good (but I just can't find it).
Yeah but 12 months of a driving season? Fabulous weather year round? Awesome beaches and boating? Beautiful forests and deserts? Mountais for skiing, climbing -- everything is within a few hours drive. (Not too many places I can think of where you can go swimming in the ocean in the morning and skiing on real snow in the afternoon. I'd deal with the periodic 'quakes for the extended driving season alone! Oh, and I'd argue that the cost of living is the same. I'd rather have a $2MM beach house in Newport than a $2MM beach house in the Hamptons or a $2MM apartment in NYC, though... There's always Hawaii (lots of $99 weekend fares) Tahoe & Vegas (lots of $49 weekend fares), Encinada/Cabo (All in Baja), Catalina, the crazy river parties in AZ. Of course, if you did not want to leave CA, you've got LA, OC, SD, SF... Agreed. NYC is awesome. NYC is #1. What's awesome in NJ, CT or PA, again? Nice places, but no more or less exciting than Long Beach, Glendale, Pacifica, or La Jolla. Hotels in NYC are better, but Shutters is the bomb. Yeah, but folks like Rehan could drive much, much more on the "Weak Coast"... Each side has it's plusses, but the West Coast looks better and better as you think about it.
