Hello all my fellow Ferrari fans, I was told today that I have a position on the new California. I was hoping any of you all experienced veterans could help me! The dealership has only told me that they will take my order and I then give them $10,000.00 for them to order. If I simply want to have my option then sell it would that be ok? if so, who would by it and for how much? I just wanted to know the value of what I had. At this point I really think I want this car, but would like to know all my options.

    Thanks you guys!

    BL

To be honest your value is "zero". In today's economy no one is going to pay you for your spot in-line. Ferrari is going to build thousands of the California GT. Supply will catch up with demand quickly.

Who would buy it and how much??? WoW, those days are hopefully over... Your spot in line is worth zero unless it is for immediate production and not 12-18 months out.... This was the problem 2 years ago, too many people buying F cars to pose with them then sell for a quick profit.... I am keeping my deposit at the dealer for the 430 replacement and I'll enjoy my Maser until then...

Realistically, in a while you could probably just wait for a car to arrive, no deposit and possibly pay less than sticker. That way you'd be able to figure out if you really want one when you see it.

Do you mean the option to sell your position? or get your deposit back? Most dealers should give you a full refund on deposit if you pull out. Whatever you're doing, have it in writing, with witnesses, including the owner of the dealership. The dealer should not be able to legally keep your deposit if you simply change your mind.

I heard a dealer say today that all orders are sent to Ferrari who keep a master waiting list, taking control of assignment away from the individual dealers.
He also said that Ferrari is looking for 50% conquest sales with the California.

Most dealers have a demo car which has been passed around from different press events, shows, etc. These cars will be sold and should be priced to reflect the fact that they are used vehicles, with varying mileage. Some have already done a few thousand miles.
