Which would be better for two medium sized dogs in a California, rear seats or rear bench?

For a friend, thanks in advance,

the best for you would be the bench...but still a tight squeeze.

Sorry, I can't stop myself from saying how surprised I am anyone would allow dogs in a new Ferrari. Might not their claws scratch the leather and hair fly around and there be a dog smell in the car?

Anyway, maybe you consider the new Ferrari FF shooting brake as more of a dog carrier.

Finally if you have to put your dogs in there then definitely not the leather seats but instead the bench, but then it is that leather too? Won't they scratch it?

I would go with seats. No dogs unless they have boots on. Their nails would not do the seats nor the sills any good. As for dog hair, we have three stupid dogs and two stupid cats and their stupid hair gets in all my cars anyway even though the stupid animals are not allowed near the Ferrari.

Hard to say. Here is a thread with my dog riding in my California: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=313079. She is about 40 lbs (8 months old) and is able to sit on the seat and also able to curl up in a seat. As she gets bigger though, it might be harder for her to curl up - the seat bottom is pretty small - so she'll be draped over the center section which is raised. And she does not fit on the floor between the front and back seats - only kids legs fit in that space.

I haven't seen the bench. Presumably it is continuously flat, which would be good for laying down, but if it is higher, it might be hard for the dog to sit up.

As for claws, etc - she hasn't caused any issues with the leather - so far. I do keep a fleece blanket on the seats, but realistically, it moves around. Dog smell - I guess that could be a problem, but the leather wipes off. She isn't lying on carpet. And I haul my muddy/sweaty kids home from soccer games in the car, so I'm not sure the dog is much worse.

    Good luck!

I have the bench seat in my California and it is higher than the base of a backseat. I think the bench is too flat to give the dogs any traction without slipping and sliding around on the Bench therefore more prone to damage/scratching. If you get the seats they have more places for the dog to sit. IMHO

Dogs in the Ferrari. Yikes! I want my wife to remove her shoes before she gets in (I dare not ask!).

My wife is one of those that feels the urge to open a bottle of something and a package of something to instantly begin to munch when she gets in a car, right after fixing her hair and makeup of course. The other day she popped open a bag of stupid peanuts. After 4 digs into the bag she dropped one next to the seat of the California and looked at me with the look of horror. The bag went away, the bottle went away, and she has not done that again. And fortunately the mirror in the right sun visor is a piece of crap so she tends to avoid that now too.

There are two kinds of dog owners in the world. One kind takes their dog with them everywhere. The other thinks dogs should live outside and are not let into houses or cars (except when taken to the vet or kennel).

The law of averages dictates that some Ferrari owners would be in the have to tae their dogs with them everywhere category. Do the dog's nails scratch the leather seats? ;)
