    Hi all,

My left rear wheel bearing is making noise on the highway and it's time to replace.
Seems like one can only buy the whole knuckle instead of just the bearing.

Does anyone where to source for bearing or brand/part number of this bearing?

Based on Scuderia car parts, 458 Italia, 458 Speciale, 458 Speciale Aperta, 458 Spider, 488 GTB, 488 Spider, 812 Superfast, California (2008-2011), California (2012-2014), F12 TDF, FF, shares the same knuckle/bearing.

    Cheers.

Looks like you will be stuck buying the whole assembly, part number 299933.

Check the fiat parts catalog. I'll bet it crosses over to something. Fiat 500 maybe?

The bearing is part of the upright/knuckle. You cannot buy it separately, because it is not a regular bearing that is just pressed in. You must purchase the entire knuckle, as the bearing and hub are incorporated into the knuckle (the hub is the inner race of the bearing).

I suppose that you could remove the knuckle and remake/machine it to accept a replacement bearing, but it would take a fair amount of time, research and engineering to find a bearing that will work in that application and then modify the knuckle/hub to accept the bearing. You are better off spending the $2300 for a complete knuckle.

Oh, and I would not purchase a used knuckle, as the force of removing the axle from the hub can damage the bearing.

Make sure that you have access to a good torch and a puller, as Ferrari uses a super strong loctite (equivalent to Green bearing/sleeve retaining compound) to secure the axle in the hub.

Has anyone ever got one of those hubs machined to accept an intereference / press fit bearing?

Also interested in this. Keen to understand why these are available on eBay as a separate bush if design is such that you shouldn’t be able to replace it independently!?
