Seems like Cali owners are having various issues with their cars. Has anyone driven more than 5,000 miles without a dealer visit for a malfunction?

I am considering a purchase, they says these are very reliable. I do not want to alway be running to the dealership.

    Thanks

Picked up my Cali in early August, have driven it virtually every day to and from work, and have not visited the dealer a single time ('knocking on wood'...lol); so from my perspective, it has been extraordinarily reliable. Leo

Ask Rick Lederman, he's got quite a lot of miles on his Cali.

Search his posts under RickLederman. I'm sure he will post here though.

Yep, here ... I have 17.700 miles on mine since December 5, 2009, just over a year. It has been to the dealer twice for repair, once for oil change, about to go one more time. First time was because the starter bounced off the flywheel a few times, cleaned paint off frame where the engine ground goes. Second was air bag warning, repaired a pushed pin and did the standard fix to both cable assemblies going through the door. Now the transmission pump is once in a while making its noise and they will reflash the transmission software to fix that. For a semi-hand made car I would call that REALLY good!

I would have to look to see what the mileage was when the first repair was done but I think it probably was after 5,000 miles, not sure though.

It doesn't use a drop of oil. I will have the oil changed for the second time on this visit. You can not go wrong with a California! The top goes up and down during the summer multiple times a day, and at the car shows that I went to this year it went up & down every 15 minutes ... it helps win votes from the public! And all with no trouble.

If you decide to get one, be sure to post pictures! And if ordering a new one, post the build sheet. Good luck Jerry!

    Rick

I've done 8,500km on my California in Perth, Western Australia. So far no issues that required going in for repairs. I have had a couple of warning lights come on but they were sorted out by turning off the ignition and then turning it on again. All in all very happy with the car which, I use as a daily driver when I'm in Perth. When I'm back home in Bangkok, the dealer stores the car for me and makes sure it is clean and ready to go when I return.

The LA Times yesterday published the most problems per 100,000 vehicles sold in 2010. Toyota was number 1. BMW was well above the average. GM was slightly below average.

    Who would have guessed that?

I think the idea of Ferrari's being repair shop queens relates more to the 80's than today.

    also +1.

the Cali is great. Runs better the more often you drive it. Also had a 430 before with 5k problem free miles on it. Only shop time was for regular service.
