are there any rumors or info available out there, that a light weight coupe version of the car woulc be made, because i think it has a lot of potential, performance could be just below the 458

There is a rumor about an "M" version. Someone started a thread here about that very subject a few weeks ago. Most people felt that rumor was premature to say the least....BUT.....it was reported last week that Ferrari will - in addition to totally replacing its models every 8 years - come out with a modified model as a "refresh" after 4 years. No doubt these will be lighter and slightly faster than the original versions.

By staggering the releases between all four models in their current line up (599, 612, 458 and California), this would essential mean a "new" Ferrari every year.

The link to the article I read is here:

I agree with you about potential performance enhancements. The Cali is about 700lbs more than the SCUD and about 400 lbs more than the F430.

Losing weight- I don't know what would be possible but if you could shed 300-350 pounds would give a noticeable improvement.

Carbon fiber bumpers front and rear, hood, trunk lid, and undertrays would be a nice start.

I am more for losing the top and making a coupe version, with all the cf add ons,

100kg-150kg should be easily shed, and my guess is it ould sell like hotcakes, make the price between the 458 and cali, same as the performance, and we would have a nice ride, not that cali already isn't one,

the m verson will be the new cali, I am more talking about a special version

Or how about- a more dedicated open version with a much lighter or removable carbon fiber folding top with a manual mechanism to save even more weight.

With carbon fiber everywhere could possible be 400 pounds lighter.

Keep the top as is ... it is way too cool going up & down to do away with. Sometimes weight ain't everything.

I take mine to a lot of car shows, mostly classic, and get the same thing. It is nice to see yours though since I never get to see it myself, thanks!
