The sound system volume in my 2010 California will climb to full volume repeatedly for what appears to be no reason.

The only other electronics I have in the car are a Blackberry, but without the Bluetooth connected.

Anyone had the same problem or any ideas?

It was weird it happened 3 4 x during my test drive on the demo car it certainly was odd and strange. The dealer said the system automatically adjust upward when engine sound goes loud? It's we weird... I will hv to wait till 2011 march to find out

In most cars there is an option now to automatically raise the volume as the car speeds up. Perhaps yours is set to do that? Check the OM or the entertainment manual. I bet that's it. Mine doesn't do it but I do seem to remember a menu somewhere that could change that.

I wasn't even thinking about the radio on my test drive! :)

But the other posters are probably right, auto volume increase as speed increases. Of course, under that theory, it should also be decreasing as the car slows. IF yours is not decreasing as well, then it is a bug in the electronics.

The Cali has the feature where the volume will increase with higher ambient noise levels. My 430 does this as well. The problem occurs without changes in ambient noise levels.

Also, I eliminated the cell phone interference possibility.

I'm concluding it's some kind of bug.

Even with the setting for volume increase due to speed, it should never go to full. Maybe the volume control on the back of the steering wheel is sticking.

Hopefully they are not accidently pressing the volume control on the back of the steering wheel ... that would be a quick fix!

Yes, my husband kept muting it accidentally by holding the down volume for too long since it works differently than in the GMs we drive normally.
