    Dear All,

    Just recently purchased a 2015 california T.
I am now changing all needed mechanical pieces and changing the full interior and i am so in love with the car.

    But 2 things bothering me:
-No apple car play on 2015
-Even if there is, the screen is un readable when roof is open

I saw topics with different radios screen but mostly for california, not california T.
    Questions:
-Is there a plug or something to add apple car play?
-Otherwise, what would be the best screen up to date, to put instead, or should i check to purchase a 2017 ferrari autoradio?
I saw the Alpine 705D, seems to be perfect, but i have not seen it in real.

    Thank you !

Mike from Scudderia audio & I are working on adding Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto to the oem Head Unit. Hopefully by spring we will have the solution buttoned up. It would most likely require you mailing us the unit and then we upgrade the insides and mail it back to you. No idea on cost yet because its still in development.

As for replacing your unit with an updated ferrari one with apple carplay, its not as simple as swapping the head unit. The module that controls the CarPlay is the I-Node ECU, which is separate from the Head Unit. That controls the cameras as well. So if it is possible to do in your car, which many are not, your talking close to $8k for a 1st get apple car play unit that frankly sucks.

Keep me posted on the development of adding CarPlay to the existing unit. I would be interested for sure!

We've already spent several thousand dollars for a California T NIT, display screen and Can Bus controller for development and testing purposes, not to mention specialized hardware, chips, programming languages and diagnostic equipment.

    Hey guys!

Thanks for the answer! finally i think th best would be just to replace with a new one no?
What do you suggest? From what i checked online the Alpine is the best fit

While I am a fan of the Alpine Units, I don't like the fit of those units in the California. Unfortunately the Head Unit is not a standard Double Din size. So if you go with a double Din Unit, you loose an inch on each side of the head unit. I rather fill the entire real estate of the screen.

Unless you go with their floating screen. I hated that floating screen look, especially when not looking directly in front of the screen.

We are currently working on a 2 types of upgrades, utilizing the stock system. One system will look OEM, yet have the newest functionality with respect to car play. The other system fills the screen completely with a tablet look, yet still utilizing the original OEM unit that has been upgraded as well.

Ah ok, so what would you suggest in terms of screen to replace? I saw the pioneer that might be a perfect match on lenght

The upgrade problem is that the actual screen is way too dark and too "old" you can feel it when you look at it, so even if it's upgrade i feel i will still not be so confortable with it, especially that i always drive with the roof open, so sun is fully on it

The full length of the opening would equate to an 8.6 inch screen. BMW has the closest size match.
