Maybe the kids were abusing the dog because it killed their duck and that is why it was aggressive when the animal control picked it up. Animal control even said the dog started to calm down and even let them play with them and that it was a smart dog. I'd bet those kids were hitting the dog.
It could have very easily been a case that the child tried to get the duck back after the dog had already had it. If I try to take my Dane's bone away, she would tear my head off. Many dogs are protective of their food and/or bones.
Today was supposed to be euthanization day, but Beau was granted a stay. Some guy on Facebook stated that a town of this size does not have the legal authorization to formulate its own ordinances regarding the euthanization of an animal, yet the judge and legal team press on, against the 500,000+ who signed the petition and actual State law. State law clearly states that a dog would have to bite a human being to be considered dangerous, and Beau has not done that. I don't know what these Dyersburg idiots are trying to prove, but this is how and why mobs form and seek vigilante justice.
Animal control never even saw the dead duck or even if there was one and the child was not bitten. I hope that Judge doesn't have to deal with serious crimes because it seems he or she is in over their head.
