My new wheels came in and I'm elbow deep in figuring out tire sizes for the configuration. I thought I knew what I wanted until I started looking harder.

For reference, I've purchased wheels with the following specs:

    19x8.5 +25 Front and 19x11 +30 Rear

Stock tire sizes are 225/35-19 Front and 285/35-19 with respective diameters of 25.2 and 26.9 inches.

Another member running the same wheel spec has the following tire sizes:

245/30-19 Front and 315/35-19 Rear with respective diameters of 24.8 and 26.5

Those are just slightly smaller than stock and have no issues.

However, I could potentially push it out to 255/3019 and 325/30-19 with respective diameters of 25.1 and 26.7 inches which is even closer to stock.

The downside with the wider tires is that my wonderfully low MPG's might tank even more. I know, I know, it's not a Prius, but that doesn't mean I want to stop for gas every other time I take it out. Also, the recommended wheel width for those is minimum of what I have. That means I'll have some side wall (which I prefer, honestly). To me, tires look odd when they angle in too much.

The wildcard though is will there be any rub with the larger tire sizes? Maybe I should just leave the rear a bit wider?

    Thoughts, suggestions, moral support?

    Thanks.

You need to keep the ratios correct, rolling circumference, thats the important part.

    225-35-19 vs 245-30-19 = -1,6% (-33 mm rolling circumference)
    285-35-19 vs 315-35-19 = +3.0% (+66 mm rolling circumference)

That is to much of a difference.

Use 315-30-19 = -1,4% (-32 mm rolling circumference), that will keep the new ratios OK compared to stock dimensions.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is available in 315-30-19.

oops, that was a typo on my part. I meant 315/30-19. The referenced diameters were correct though.

Not that there was a lot of action on this thread, but wanted to update it in case anybody else runs into the same situation in the future.

I ended up with 245/30-19 and 315/30-19 in the end. Even though the wider rear was appealing, I managed to find several pictures of a 325 cross section on an 11" wheel and it just looked way too bubbly even for my taste.

Pic for reference of said 325 on 11" wheel:
