After a 7 and a half year break from college, I recently decided to go back and take up accounting. I don't mind doing the work or reading the text book. But the problem lies within the professor and his way of teaching class.

We meet once a week from 630-910. He uses from 630-approx 8pm, to go over the homework from the previous class. 8-815, we go on break, 820-910 he covers the next chapter. It might seem like a long time to go over one chapter, but I don't think it is. I read the chapter we will be covering when I get home from work on monday so its kinda fresh in my head when I'm at class. But with only 50 minutes dedicated to new princples, concepts, I'm afraid I might get lost.

So my question is this. Are there any books besides the text that I could reference. Like an "Accounting For Dummies" book. Something along those lines? Invest in a tutor if it calls for it. Or have the fchat accountants do my homework :D

Thanks in advance guys. Any help would really be appreciated.

Do you find yourself having trouble picking up the concepts of the new chapter? I took intro to accounting last semester (yours could be way more advanced, so if I am just being dumb then ignore me). And it seemed to me like all my prof did was rehash the material that was in the book when he lectured.

Accounting seemed to be pretty intuitive, you just learn new methods that you have to apply with each chapter. I would recommend reading the chapter beforehand so you know what he is talking about, while he is talking about it. And also I would due the hw and pay close attention when he reviews it, so that you can figure out where you went wrong and how to correct these mistakes for the test.
