How much do Stratos (street) and 037 Stradale go for in Europe/USA? Also, were any road Stratoses ever painted in the Al-Italia colors?

    Thanks

    Niko

I watch the 037's pretty closely. The going price for the Stradale's seems to be around 50K to 60K euros. The corse cars go for much more. I know of no 037's in Canada - yet : )

To the best of my knowledge they are not road legal in the US but I know of three in the Country, either in collections or imported as "race cars" in California, Arizona and Las Vegas

There's a fantastic recreation / replica of the Stratos available if you don't mind having a non-original car. Most parts are interchangeable with and are better made than an original. It is world acclaimed as the best replica of the Stratos.
It's made by "Hawk Cars" in the UK by Gerry Hawkridge.

    http://www.hawkcars.co.uk/hf3000/index.html

There are many here in the US in various states of completion. I have one under construction at the moment and will be powered with a 308QV drivetrain. The car can accept a Fiat/Lancia twin cam, an Alfa 3LV6, a Ferrari Dino V6 or a 308.

If you need more info drop me a PM as I am Gerry's US contact.

Thanks, but it has to be original. My first collection car, I am saving money for would be an Alfa Zagato SZ/RZ 90/92. I actually almost bought one, however my cool head prevailed (I need a realistic car). The prices in Switzerland are low. And I already saw some with luaghable milage 3220km/1600km.

How is a Stratos reliability wise? Is it a total pain?

Here's a great Stratos and Stratos replica forum based in the UK.
Look for "TRYPHON", he's an original owner and can answer all your questions:

Also there is someone local here in Atlanta that is an original owner that is a forum member here on F-Chat and the Supersite. his name is Randall Roberts

man i love the Stratos! and despite the combination of my love for that car (first car i ever specifically lusted after) and hatred of 'replicas', i'd gratefully take a hawk with a V8 Ferrari in it.

I assume you want the Stradale model because you actually want to use it on the road ? I was told by some 037 guys that there are particular rules in Switzerland that preclude the further importation of 037s into Switzerland.

Apparently the few (now down to 4 or something like that) that are in the country are grandfathered but no others can be brought into the country, at least to be driven on the roads. For this reason the 037s you might see for sale from Switzerland are much more expensive.

Do you know anything about this or was someone just looking to inflate his price ?

The Stratos of course uses the Dino engine; there are some differences (carbs, etc.) but the maintenance and reliability issues are the same. In theory, it is a more robust car than the Dino. However, The Stratos is not a daily driver. There is no rustproofing, and no protection from parking dings, etc. It can also get quite warm - no airconditioning. It is a "nervous" car, always on edge, and engine noises are more apparent than on the Dino, which is more refined and insulated.

Which Stratos's had the 4V engine?
Or was this just one or two engine made for test purposes?

Do a search. I recall another thread mentioned only about a
    dozen engines were 4V.

I believe there were 12 four valve engines made and all were used in the competition cars.
    This is one of them
