I have this clear coat separation at the top of my car (P-car 997S). I want to repaint it. For people familiar with body shop repair practices:

    1. How do they deal with the rubber seal between the sunroof and the rest of the roof?
    2. Removal of the sunroof... how difficult is it?

The sunroof is relatively easy to remove. The seal will need to be removed and replaced. More importantly, what about the front and rear glass seals? I would guess at about a $3000.00 repair. Maybe more, maybe less. depends if you are doing a proper restore or just a quick fix.

It's gonna be a DIY quick fix. The front glass is cracked and will be removed before painting. The rear glass rubber seal may be pulled back (by inserting a small diameter rope under the seal).

Removal of the sun roof is easy? How? Start from the inside by taking down the head liner?

It should be accessible by removing the sunroof headliner template and sliding it back. However, if it's a quick fix, just slide the sunroof back out of the way if you are not going to paint it also. But it looks like the clear is peeling off the edge of it, and I assume you want it all to match. Disclaimer: I am basing this on experience with my old 73.5 911T I had back in the 70's. I have not personally removed a sunroof from a 997.

I found a youtube write up on how to remove the actual sunroof on a 997S, it seems easy enough to do. I would remove it to paint it to match with the rest of the roof.
