I have in my notes to tighten a quarter turn at a time. Final torque 8.8NM.

i would imagine some type of a star pattern would be good here too? I mean that you would want to tighten bolts nearly opposite - not one bolt then the one next to it... Start from the middle?

In my opinion it's not as critical as head bolts. But there is certainly no harm in your proposal.

The hard part of what you suggest is keeping up with which bolts you have touched and which you have not.

I would be more worried about keeping up with the caps and their orientation. Each one is supposed to go right back where it was.

From my recollection of previous posts on this subject the advice about the quarter turn was danger of breaking a cam cap for the ones that happen to be under pressure during this procedure.

With head bolts and maybe clutch plates the star pattern or other alternating pattern is about even pressure and good seal (in my uninformed amateur opinion). Again, with the cam caps it's about not breaking one.
