It still helps, just not as much. Say the heads flow 90 with or without the intake installed, but the intake is really at its flow limit (on a QV that is basicaly true). Now you port the head to make it flow 100, you'll only see 95-96 when you bolt on the intake. Get the head to to 110, you get about 100 with the intake on. Get 120 from the heads, then maybe 103-104 with the intake and so on.

I'm getting quotes on cast ITB intakes for QVs and TRs, should I do a 2v version too?

Yeah . .. if they're "reasonable" I'd be up for 2 setups at least.
