Might seem like a dumb question but is this seal supposed to be backwards? it’s in the cam sensor housing… this side of the housing faces the motor. Thank you. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So the orientation is opposite to the cam seals? Always thinking too much so is the reason because the heads see vacuum from dry sump? Usually that surface is always “out” unless the motor is pulling internal vacuum from dry sump or vacuum pump etc.. so just to clear this pic the flat surface is in towards the motor. Thanks for clarification!
Backwards. The side exposing the spring is supposed to be facing the interior of the motor just like all the other seals.
It is the wrong way around. The side of the seal seen on your picture should be at the "dry" side of the housing (as always). See these pics: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is a bit odd the way it looks, make sure when you slip it on the can doesn't catch on the seal, it is very easy for that to happen.
Yea the spring wanted to keep popping out of the seal. I had the cam sensor attached and when I removed that completely I was able to manipulate it on. A trick someone shared with me was to pack the back of the seal with vasoline but it still wanted to pop out so removing the cam sensor so I was working with just the base seemed to help. Thanks gents.. appreciate the feedback and advice.
