I finally have the time to check the cam timing and I want to make sure I understand the process. After you establish TDC the readings according to the manual are-

intake opens 10 deg before tdc
intake closes 50 deg after bdc

ex opens 76 deg before bdc
ex closes 9 deg before tdc

I see all kinds of numbers, but this is what I see in the manual. Is this correct?

If you advise the year and model that you are referring to you will have a better chance of someone replying specifically on your question.

Go to All Ferraris you may find a WSM for your model.

Sorry this would be helpfull. It is a 2001 360. I followed Bob's write up and it is a different engine. I do have a manual that is where I got the numbers. I am NOT an engine expert by any sense of the word, and need to get this right.

Read and follow the procedure laid out in the manual. It is not timed by detecting the opening and closing times. It is timed by measuring the valve lift at a specific crankshaft location and that location is different for intake and exhaust.

Thanks, all of this watching the degree wheel way and other things, I was chasing my tail. So at TDC comp the intake lifter should be 1.66 mm and at 9 deg BEFORE TDC on the ex stroke the ex valve lifter should be .6 mm?

No measurements are taken at compression stroke.
