I will be driving my Uncles 599 next weekend at a track event in Dallas. What camera mount works best for the car?

    thanks!

This is what I use every now and then. It works well but I don't know how safe it would be on a real race course with hard g-forces. For street use or on a drag strip it's fine. I have a hard time getting it off even when I'm trying to. There probably isn't anything better unless you want to install a roll bar with a camera mount.

Would you know the dimensions of the base and the weight? I checked their web site and that information in not there. Years ago I purchased a similar product from Sticky Pod and the size was hugh plus the base was made from machined metal and weighed a ton.

The actual base is 3 1/2 inches x 4 inches and from the outside edge of the suction cups, it's 5 inches x 5 1/2 inches. The base appears to be made out of plastic and aluminum. The extension arm appears to be aluminum and the fitting that holds the camera is plastic. My postage scale is too small and my bathroom scale isn't very accurate. According to my bathroom scale it's 1.2 pounds.

EDIT: the second time I weighed it on the same scale it said it's 0.8 pounds. Like I said, it's not very accurate but I would guess it's right around 1 pound.

Where is the post of the guy that taped a video ipod to the front plate?

Worked better than you would think.
