You have a two-valve injected car, so it's pretty easy. The only pitfalls that I found, assuming that you already know how to get things apart enough to change the belts and check the valve clearances:

    - Put the motor on PM1-4 before you start, so you can check the position of the camshaft marks against the marks on the cam caps. Do this before you take the belts off, of course.
    - Pay attention to the position and orientation of the caps (five for each camshaft); they have to go back in exactly the way that they came out. Mark them with a sharpie before you start removing them if you have any doubts. (The stamped markings on mine were inconsistent, which caused me a sleepless night reading threads about seized camshafts).
    - Plug the spark plug holes and intake manifold runners with rags or paper towels so you don't drop anything into them. Do the same for the oil return ports in the head as soon as you have the cam covers off.
    - I wouldn't try this without removing the decklid first.
    - Lay in a stock of high-quality 6mm (1/4") Belleville washers for the cam caps, and you won't have to feel guilty about reusing the old ones if they look flattened.
    - Do not cheap out on your torque wrench. The cam cap nuts want 9 N-m, much too little for a cheap/oversized torque wrench to do accurately... and this is a place where it really matters.

Doubtless others will have more, but that's pretty much my list.

thanks guys that was very helpful. i've been warned that you have to undo the cap nuts in small increments to avoid cracking anything. what do you think? jon s

Yes, that is true. I took detailed notes when I removed mine. If you want a copy of my notes PM me. I have a 2V carb car.

Well, I didn't try something else just to see if the caps really would crack :) but fastening and unfastening in small increments is always good practice for stressed assemblies... I can't imagine wanting to do it any other way.

Put the caps all in a numbered box and put them back on the exact same way unless they were wrong. The Previous guy that worked on mine left several of the alignment dowels out I found one in my lower oil banjo fitting.....

also number the shafts on the bolt 1234 that helps

If you get the caps mixed up by any chance, the heads and caps all have corresponding numbers stamped into them.
