Can the 458 Spider roof be remotely operated?

What do I mean by "remotely operated"? With the Mercedes SL you can operate the folding hard top from outside of the car. You can open the top when the car is locked by pointing the electronic key at the door handle and holding down the unlock button. In addition you can close the top by pointing the key at the door handle and holding down the lock button. Closing the roof this way also closes the windows and leaves the car in a locked state.

This is really handy on hot days and for easy ingress/egress. Plus you get to watch the folding hard top in operation which never gets old :)

I'm hoping the 458 Spider works like the SL in this regard and that an existing owner can confirm yea/nay. Fingers crossed!

No, it doesn't operate in that way. The key needs to be in the ignition.

Try putting the key into the door and turn the key to the right and hold.
The roof should open up, turning it to left whole holding it will close open your roof.
This works on the California so should work at your car?
