Title says it all would like to have a classic car with my 550 and really likes the dino... but if i can not drive it it's gonna be an issue... any tall owners ?
Kinda depends if you are long in the trunk or the legs. The Dino has more room than the 308 for example. My 6'7" son in law makes do as a passenger but would not be able to drive it, but he can drive my 550. Go jump in one and see! you might be surprized.
My 6'5" 280 lb. Brother in law took mine for a spin, no problem for him, he's actually looking to buy one. Of course, he's used to squeezing into Little British Cars, and drove a Lotus for some time, so he may be the exception to the rule. DM
To put it delicately.... width is a bigger problem. I had a friend who has been dreaming about one, but at 6.2, and considerable girth, he was not able to be comfortably seated. Short legs also help in any vintage Italian car.
Sorry to say, but no. At 6-2 I've driven one and had problems getting reverse and first. Too bad, I love that car.
As mentioned above, it's all down to where you have the height. I'm 6-5 and can fit. It's not roomy, I wouldn't want to spend more than an hour behind the wheel, but it's possible. T308
I'm 6'4 1/2" tall and have sat in a Dino, though did not drive it. I wear 34" inseam pants. I was rather uncomfortable and think while you might be able to drive it, it won't be too comfortable. Have you tried any other models, as I too am looking for one I can fit it. I've heard that a 365 GT 2+2 might be the tall guys answer, but haven't had the opportunity to drive/sit in on. Keep me posted, Mitchell
Jaxcollector, Many of the front engined V-12 cars will work for you, not just the 365 2+2, including most 330's (2+2 and GTC), and many 250s (including GTE, GTL, and probobly the PF coupe). Synchro, Head hight isn't the problem. When I tried sitting in a Dino, I literaly couldn't get my leg past the steering wheel. i'm sure I could have found a way in a pinch, but it would not have been a fun drive. Regards, Art S.
Hey Jax, I am 6'5", with a 36" inseam and drive a 365 2+2. The car is good for the people with the unfortunate handicap of height. In it's original condition, it is pretty comfortable for the taller f-car person. On long trips it may get a little cramped, in that it doesn't allow enough room for changing positions. I added about 2" to the seat tracks it's a bit uncomfortable around town with the seat all of the way back, but on the highway it's great to have the adjustability. Regards, Bill
I am 6' 3 and 7/8", 200lbs. I have a 72 246 GT. I fit just fine. Seat is all the way to the back against the firewall to be sure. I drove it for 3.5 hours on one trip... not a problem. With my hair cut short I am fine headroom wise. If my hair grows out and up (as it tends to do) then when I get out of the car, my head looks a bit shmooshed. But I keep a Lance style cut these days, so it's not an issue. You have maybe 2" of headroom at my height and sitting straight up comfortable, but not ramrod straight. With the seat this far back, your arms do stretch a bit for the wheel though... fyi.
Short answer? Yes, but drive one before you buy! I'm 6'5", 210#. I have long legs. In my opinion, that would be limit if one wants the ultimate 246 Dino driving experience. Long answer? Yes again but with qualification as below: Other than a bit of claustrophobia with the top on my GTS, I (or, should I say, the Dino) fit OK once you get used to the laid-back "Italian" driving position. I prefer to drive without top but carry a waterproof fitted cockpit cover for weather emergencies. Unlike the GT, the GTS seats are held forward about 2"+ by pins in the seat rails to accommodate storage of the top behind the seats. Removing these pins alleviated much of my leg-room issues. My right knee is still higher than the shift knob but I've gotten used to it. As a consequence, the top stays in the garage. Most critical "fit" issue for me now is my size 13 foot. The lateral and verticle clearance at the throttle pedal is/was too tight. I've modified the passenger side floorboard (moved to right 1"). I have good lateral clearance now but haven't yet figured out how to gain some verticle clearance, short of taking out all the carpeting above/below the pedal. I'm sure there are shorter folks with bigger feet than mine so the Dino "fit" depends on height as well as foot size. Picking the right "driving" shoe helps as well! Bill
While you may be able to fit in it, you may want to seriosuly evaluate the comfort of the seats. It seems to me that the Daytona seats would leave your lower back unsupported as the shoulders contact the top bow of the seat. You might want to bring a pillow to the test drive.
