Saw this recently in the owner's manual, and was curious if these same connections (used for "jump" / emergency-starting) can be used for trickle-charging the battery as well? Below is a pic of the terminals (located under the cover panel on passenger side of engine compartment). If not, I'll either use a cig. lighter option, or pull wheel and hook up leads to the battery directly.

That will work. In fact, I have seen "on board" microprocessor controlled battery tenders bolted to the side engine cover right above that spot, and wired into the electrical system at that point. Not the cleanest looking installation, but it works.

On my car, the FNA dealer installed the "on board" charger under the right side cover in the trunk, directly above the battery. The 120vt plug pokes out from under the cover. I simple "pop" the trunk, and plug an extension cord in...quite simple.

I still prefer the cigarette lighter plug trick though.....then I can use the system on any car....

This is the method I use on my 355. I hooked up the "permanent" connectors for my Deltran to these connectors, then replaced the cover. I zip-tied the connector to attach it. Now, I just pop the rear lid and plug the Deltran in. Ridiculously easy.

N.B.; the power kill switch needs to remain ON (located above battery in right front fender well, accessible via trunk) for the battery to charge.

    vty,

Thanks for the quick and informative responses! Thought that this was "doable", but wanted to get some experienced owner's opinions first.

Think I'll hook up the spare Deltran leads just as Dennis described, and also purchase a cig. lighter adapter for multifunction use as well.

You get two sets of leads with the Deltran, use the "ring" leads as you mentioned in the engine compartment. Take the "clamp" leads and cut them off, then use that to splice onto the cigarette lighter adapter. Get this one at Radio Shack, it comes with a long lead (8ft), so it will easily reach into the car. http://snipurl.com/5rl7
