Sell the 348 and pay cash for the vette. Me, I would rather have the 348.
Our just keep the 348 and pay cash for the Vette. That way you can enjoy both! BTW the only reason I can think of that anyone would say they would rather have the 348 is they haven`t driven the Vette yet. Trust me, the Vette is way superior to the 348 in performance. The only thing you will get out of the 348 over the Vette is more spectators!
Check this out ... a classic pissing contest http://ferrarichat.com/forum/misc.php?do=whoposted&t=77368
Opps! I guess your right. I suppose we need to chill out don't we. Ahh man and I was having so much fun too! Ok I'll stop.
No truer words spoken. I own both. I don't need spectators so my 348 is a total POS racecar now with damaged paint, no interior and welded unpainted rollcage and rock hard suspension. I had to drop out huge weight in the 348 just to make it 3/4 as fast as my overweight Z06 with cupholders.
The Z06 is one of the worlds rare cars to achieve supercar status, fast, handles, beautiful. Whats not to like? Its earned the respect.
Hey Billy how are you? Long time no see! I'm still thinking about doing the Nitrous thing to the 348, just haven't had time yet.
All this also makes it less driven by humans and more driven by computers. "The point about the driver variable is what makes it fun and why a Mini can take a Z06. Driver skill is becoming forgotten, what with ABS, ABC, DSC, ESP, E-Diff, LC, SMG and all the other alphabet soup."
Very true. The Z gives the driver the choice of shutting off the active handleing and traction control if they want to. I have found out the hard way that the driver is responsible for vehicle control when these things are shut off! That is one of the things I like about my 348. It is all manual and raw, a completely different experience from the Z.
I dont make a comparison for ring cauz some car's options are mod before track on ring. Especially i saw some videos on ring that there are some bumps on the some part of track Why does people compare a Ferrari to a car (especially a german car) for a track on Ring I really wonder Fiorano time comparison for F car's and German cars it will be as fair as Ring times I read the Ring time for F430 and the most acceleration times are the worst i have seen such as 0-100km 4.0 (some dif mag's(auto zeitung) get 3.8 sec) and 0-200km time 12.6 (some mags around 12.2-12.4).
i just took delivery of my z06 a few weeks ago. and i also own a 360 cs and have spent time driving a 430, anyone who knocks the z needs to drive one first, imo its a bit faster than the 430. but at the end of the day who cares, its a great car , especially for the price. no sqeeks or rattles, sure the interior is not up to ferrari standards, but the car is 1/3 the price so they have to skimp somewhere. the motor is assembled with alot of the same goodies as ferrari, dry sump, titanium rods etc. i love the look of the cs, 430 and the z06, and im happy to own 2 of those three, waiting for the 430 cs to come out for one of those. to knock the z06 is silly, its a great car regardless of price, and a spectacular car at 76k out the door. ferrari guys of which im one should not snub their noses at the car just because its built here in the usa, we should be happy that great performance cars are finally being built here for reasonable prices.
...my neighbour just took delivery of a black Z06. Objectively speaking, it looks great. I have never liked Corvettes, but this car is notable in its styling, performance and overall handling. Would I rather have it over a Ferrari...no. For 1/3 the price....I think it is a remarkable accomplishment. This car accelerates like no other. It's impressive, and GM should take a bow. I also understand that they are developing a supercharged version for $100K, that will embarrass an Enzo.....
Um actually it is. It's not Ferrari but certain American cars like the new Mustang have a great signature rumble. Even some dude in his Lamborghini Diablo gave me a thumbs up in my Mustang last Friday.
You have clearly NOT driven a modern (C5 or newer) Corvette. I owned two C5s, one full convertible, the other a coupe. Absolutely NO SQUEAKS OR RATTLES. While I enjoyed my Viper more than my Vettes (the Vettes were too civilized), there is no denying that the new Z06 is an amazing engineering feat at a very cheap entry price. I seriously considered buying a Z06 instead of my Testarossa, but determined that performance was not my primary interest in owning a sports car. Consequently, the question, while interesting, is not relevant to the reason many of us choose Ferrari as a marque. Nothing else is a Ferrari, whether or not it can outperform a Ferrari. If that sounds silly, then a Z06 can't be beat. If it doesn't sound silly, you probably already own a Ferrari.
And doesn't rankle others. Some of us have owned Corvettes, love them, and love the marque. There isn't a Vette or Viper I would prefer currently over my Ferrari, but I am hugely impressed with what the Vettes and Vipers have been able to do for the money they charge.
My 2003 GSXR 1000 K3 was faster than ANY production bike in 2003. But, despite CLASS, and taking a few racing classes, my buddy on his 996 (not even the 999) who is one of the instructors for California Superbike School (CSS to bike guys) could take me down anytime he felt like it, once we hit the twisties. It is the rider/driver most times. I had the fastest bike, and it just didn't matter since I was the slower rider. Probably why I'm just fine in my Testarossa. I took the Skip Barber course in my Viper and FELT fast. Until the instructors took over. Frankly I'm just as fast on a CBR929 as I am on a GSXR 1000 K3, and I'm probably just as fast or slow in my TR as my much more powerful former Viper. And I don't think I'll race Street King or Dr. Earle for pink slips, even if you put them in 77 MGBs, and let me take the 430. If they get the hole shot, I might never get around the blocks : - )
Wow, need to find time to read this thread. My last car before the 575M was a 2000 Supercharged C5 w/680rwhp. It's much easier to modify Corvettes for extreme power. Parts and service are less expensive than F-Cars and mileage is not as much a concern/worry. My next car is either going to be a Twin Turbo Z06 from LPE or an F 430. In raw power I don't think the 430 can compete with 680rwhp/3100lbs. A Twin Z06 would let me run with bikes and should compete with an Enzo in performance. I plan to keep the 575M long-term as a grand tourer.
I note that you are a student. With an open and clear mind you will learn more. Your father has a wonderful car, and you are lucky to drive it.
I am a bit stunned by this comment. If you, as a Chevrolet manager, can't appreciate the magnificent achievement at a very affordable price that the C5 Z06 was, and how much better the C6 Z06 will be, then you should really consider working for a Ferrari dealership. Not having a passion for the product that you sell seems like an awful prison to be in as a person involved in sales. I love my Ferrari, and passed on the Z06, but I think I have more passion for your product than you do. Pity that.
