Can anyone help me identify this 308 ignition part?

    Today while replacing fuel lines I saw what looks like an ignition part hanging loose by a wire under one of my ignition coils. Bottom arrow shows the part (black plastic cylinder) hanging loose under coil. Top arrow shows the mounting bracket on coil that it has broken off.

    ‘79 308 GT/4 - has been running fine.

    Any idea what it is?

    Thanks!

    Googled it - the purpose of the capacitor, which is to reduce interference to AM radio. This explains why the car’s performance was unaffected.
