Hey guys, I found other threads along the lines of this but didnt know if the same applied since im only in High School. I was hoping I could get some help. I am a High School student, I play baseball and football. I workout 3 times a week for football wieght-training. The other days I use my Gold's Gym Premier. My main concern is my stomach. I hate my stomach to no end. I am not fat, but I refuse to take my shirt off. Its my self-conciousness I guess. I have tried alot of things. Situps and crunches seem to do nothing for me. I am a fullback and linebacker in football and intend to keep my position, not get moved to the line. I am not a big eater. I stopped the fast-food. Only drink Diet pop(is that bad?)and am trying to eat healthier. My stomach is my main concern. How do I lose weight in my stomach? Whats the quickest way to a flat stomach? I have a couple of buddies in football who take/have taken steroids for football. Even though they look ripped, thats definatley not me. What about all these ads you see for Diet pills like Maxatrim and that? Or protein shakes? Should I try any of those, or any suggestions? I understand that is alot of questions. I just really want a good stomach. Thanks for your time and any help I can get. Thanks again, -Chris
What's wrong with your stomach? Is it flabby? Are you concerned about your chest? Do you have gynecomastia? You need to realize a couple of things. First, men store most of their fat in their stomach and getting rid of love handles is probably the hardest thing any male can do. Secondly, there is no such thing as spot reduction. You can't do crunches and expect a flat stomach. We are all born with abs, and if anything, working out your stomach will only make your stomach protrude that much more, thus giving the appearance of a flabby tummy. If your diet is good, the only other thing you can do is cardio cardio cardio. It sucks, but it is what it is. Since your in high-school, I strongly advise against this, but you can always try an EC stack (ephedrine+caffeine). The combination of the two results in a thermogenic effect which will cause you to shed some pounds. I've had success with the EC stack, but I care too much about my health to continue with it. There's also the EC stack on crack, also known as Clenbuterol, which from what I've heard makes you shed fat like no other. It is illegal in the United States (from what I understand), but you can order it online. I *STRONGLY* advise against this, but should you feel the need to give it a shot, please do your due diligence and research it as much as possible. Your body is your temple, don't forget that. Now if you have Gynecomastia, that's a whole different can of worms.
Quickest way to a flat stomach is to suck in your gut. Seriously tho , you say you are not fat so whats the problem? Bad posture. You train for football so are you doing heavy squats. If not start doing them and your abs will tighten up. Lots of heavy core exercises like deadlifts and pullups will help. At your age I would advise against fat burners and the like. Learn about proper nutrition and see if you are eating right. Six meals a day protein at every meal. Get into good habits now.
This is what ALL you need to know. Chemicals, caffeine compounds, and eating disorders aren't going to change your body for good. Think about it like simple algebra: Output (calories you expend exercising) - Input (calories you eat) = Either + or - change in total caloric allowance... In laymans terms, your body naturally uses between 1500-2500 calories per day depending on your metabolism and medical condition (in high school, your body actually burns many more, but let's keep things consistent)... a normal diet consists of 1500 - 2500 calories per day. If you expend an extra say 800-1000 calories a day over that amount by doing 45-60 minutes of cardio, you will in effect burn off fat (as fat is approximately 4000 stored calories)...so think about in easy terms...take in what your body tells you you need and avoid late night snacks, excessively high calorie/fat meals, and be sure to increase you body's caloric expenditure. So cardio, on top of decreasing your resting heart rate over time (which gives you a longer life span) also decreases excess body fat. You can't target the exact fat burn, but over time (and it will take time so you will be testing and strengthening your own commitment here) you will see results.
Diet Soda = Excess CO2 which is proven to create a "bloating" effect in fat cells. Do the cardio as others suggest, because it really is a net calorie effect: Burn more than you intake, and you will burn fat cells and since your working out, it won't be at the expense of your musculature. Another thing, ban the alcohol completely until you get where you want to...
Thanks for all the replys guys. My stomach is "flat". But not toned. I went on Iwantsixpackabs and it was okay. I do squats and shrugs and that. I just want a flatter, toned stomach. And to shed about 10 pounds. Thanks again. -Chris
Thanks for the help Cameron. Like I said, it's a "flat" stomach but not toned. And Gynecomastia? Not me lol
I know how serious you guys are on diets. Can anyone tell me what I should add or cut out in mine? Breakfast: Usually toast with spray butter or a bagel with low-fat cream cheese Lunch: Low fat turkey on white bread, apple, peanut butter and crackers, and a bottle of water Dinner: Usually salad or turkey sandwhich I realize some of that is not smart. Any advice? Thanks! -Chris
Get rid of the spray butter and use peanut butter, get rid of the cream cheese. Get some sort of fruit such as a banana in for breakfast. Go whole wheat with the bread and ditch the white stuff. Try for some meats that are lean and high in protein, also add in some chicken or fish. More veggies, green veggies, beans, broccoli, mixed veggies, can't go wrong with veggies. If this is all you're eating in a day you should aim for a few snacks in between. One mistake people can make when trying to shed some extra weight is cutting their calorie intake too drastically which makes their body think they're in starvation mode and they retain fat. Calculate out how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight with the amount of exercise you do each day and then subtract 400-500 calories from that and you will lose a pound a week safely. If you're cutting 1000-1500 calories off of what you need to maintain weight you're not going to lose it as effectively. If you have a flat stomach now and you want to see abs the key is to lower your body fat %. As many have already said the best way to do that is cardio cardio cardio. Combine that with smart eating and eventually you'll start to see some progress. BTW stay off the roids.
