Hi guys. This morning my 2000 360 (18k miles) wouldn't start, the engine wouldn't turn. I began to remove the plate to the battery... the right screw came off fine, the left screw is difficult to get a regular philips driver into correctly without interference from the bottom of the dash.. Well, it bacame quite stripped. I tried to use the battery tender to recharge the battery, but i don't think it works correctly, kept getting blinking light errors.

I looked at the passenger footrest area and found what looks to be a small adapter. I'm wondering if it was installed by a previous owner to charge the battery? I've never seen something like this before. Without access to the battery, I can't be sure that's what it's for, but I think so.

I figure if I can charge the battery and get it to my mechanic, he can remove the stripped screw/plate, and I can replace what probably is an old battery. Anyone know what this adapter is?

This is the location where most fit a trickle charger plug and that's probably what it is although I don't recognize the brand. Mine is a side by side rubber plug. One thing that I have seen warnings on is not to run a 360 on a low battery as it can really cause havoc with the electronic modules and maybe cost you $$$. I would just get a new battery and bolt it in it's not a big deal and only takes a few minutes. Turn the main power switch off first (under front hood on the back LH side) and connect the positive (red) terminal to the new battery last. This will save any potential problems.

Also make sure you don't have anything switched on like interior lights, aftermarket amplifier etc to drain the new battery and a battery tender is only good for keeping a charged battery topped up.

    Good luck.
