That link is a dead end for me. I spoke with him and was told it had a major 3yrs/8k miles ago and there were conflicting opinions on whether it should be done every 3 or 5yrs. Either way it does seem like it should be done soon.
Did he mention anything about valve guides or headers having been replaced?? Might be an issue in the future...or even now.
dont you think you are paying too much. $47k plus major. you will be out at around $55k for a 95 . Plus you have high miles. A good price should be under $40k . Beautiful car, nice interior.
Personally, I think the car looks fantastic. With a clean PPI, I feel like the price is good. Some would say it needs a major, some would not. It's certainly not been neglected. Since my car is pushing 34k miles, looks like I won't be selling it.... since it will be unsellable soon. The mileage thing cracks me up more lately. My '07 RS4 has 28k miles, and it's considered pretty low.
+1. The car is almost 15 years old, that mileage is a little over 2000 miles/year. 2000-3000 miles per year is a very good number to ensure that the car has had some "exercise" during its life. Ferraris that are NOT driven regularly, deteriorate - seals, o-rings, gaskets, bearings seize, etc. This mileage thing is getting a little too much. I think that most members agree that the 5 year/30K number for majors is a pretty good one to go with. If the PPI looks good and you like the car, go for it. There are not that many GTS around.
Ok, this is the description given to me. paint is nice/average for age of car. (some minor spider cracking in rear bumper occured when removed for exhaust work). Some scuffs on painted roof section. Guides were replaced when the engine out/t-belt service was done 3yrs/8k miles ago. Drivers side manifold has been replaced. Passenger side appears/presumed to be replaced but I don't think there are records for it. Original clutch. Owner does not want to negotiate from the 47k asking price as he said he is getting a good amount of interest at that price. Seems nice but I would rather be in this car in the 42k range.
You MUST get a PPI done. All the information form the owner/dealer should be taken with a grain of salt. If you like the car have a good PPI done - including a compression check. Post the results here. If everything checks out, I think $47K is a good price.

You Americans are so lucky you think $47k is too expensive for an F355 GTS. Here in Australia we're looking at $120k AUD minimum for that car, probably more. Just thought I'd rant Its bloody nice.
Thanks Roadracer311 In one of his posts he describes the car (when test driven) as down on power/rough idle and seats in need of repair. That explains the new upholstery though I would like to find out the cause of the running issues.
Well I've sent the owner a few emails asking him what was fixed in order to correct the lack of power and rough idle. I also asked about the heater issue. His response was- "The power and idle are fine now. The heater is still not working. In San Diego we really have not needed it." So I said, ok but what was done in order to fix the running problem? And was told- "The idle and power was ok when I got the car. Habib had it fixed by Extreme Motorsports." So I asked yet again, yes but what was actually fixed by them? And to that I have not recieved a response.
I'd check out this 355 GTS. Yes, it looks very nice but after some emails with the owner it seems as if they are not willing to let it go for less than the buy it now price. (which is a bit on the high side in this market, IMO)
