Hi everybody, last week I went to an event in the Netherlands with my 308 and I was wondering if autumn leafs can cause damage entering the air intakes in the door panels? I've seen these grids on 328s to prevent stuff going in, but I don't have them. And where and how can I remove these leaves. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As far as I'm aware, this drivers scoop just allows air into the engine compartment. The passenger side scoop allows air into the airbox, if a leaf was to enter would get caught in the airbox and never make it past the filter element.
Drivers side sends air to cool the oil cooler. Pass. side feeds air to the air filter box engine/intake.
On the QV, Left side is to the oil cooler. Worse case is they might block some air flow & oil runs hot. the Right side is to the air filter. worse case: they might block some air flow car runs rich. shine a flashlight in there or look from the engine compartment. Lots of leaves up here in the NorthEast and I'e never found anything in the slots in 7 years of active driving.
Just to let you know, to the best of my knowledge, Germany DID mandate them (screens) for the 308 series but no other country did. I have been looking for some EOM too but for the price they want I will just use some chicken wire and make my own. Ferrari used what looks like chicken wire too and charged a small fortune (+100 EU each) today for them.
Problem is you can't clean the inside portion of the grills, unless you take the intake off and clean from the inside. Mine has never been cleaned so it's not pretty. Functionally, I don't think they make any different unless a plastic bag got sucked in there. Ace
