Want a 488 spider, but had to put things on hold for a few months due to health issues. I'm back looking now and trying to gauge the market.

I found a "sold" ad on eBay for a well-equipped 2016 red/black with Daytona seats, LEDs, premium stereo and 238 miles. The selling price was $266,300.00 for October 4, 2018.

Can this possibly be true? I get that it's a 2016 with about a year of warranty left, a private seller and it's autumn. Still, that seems to be quite a drop since the last time I looked, around 6 months ago.

Welcome to the new world of 488 pricing.

Who knows what is true or not--but would not surprise me from a private seller.

From a private seller this is definitely in line. Private sales always fetch lower price than from a dealer.

488 will soon be "the old" model.

Why don't you message the seller to find out? Based on the options you listed, that's around $20K below the vehicle's original MSRP with no warranty left. A 2016 MY car is likely to have been sold in the year 2015, or therabouts. A 1 year newer 488 tends to sell for around $8K-10K more.

488 has a little more than a year left, replacement will come around 2021 MY, being unveiled very late in 2019. Add a few years on top of vehicle release depending on where you are in the dealer food chain.

238 miles is crazy - why would someone keep a car for about 3 years, not driving it but just waiting for losing money in the end??

There are more cars out there like this than you think. I was offered 16 GTB with 200'ish miles for a silly number. People do crazy things...take advantage when you can.

don't know about 488.... but i see plenty of cars "sell" on ebay only to be relisted for a non paying bidder....

i am very reluctant to bid on anything as you have no clue.... i'm guessing people to it to wear sellers out

The car in eBay was a SPIDER. According to Autocheck, it was put into service in October 2016, so a year of warranty left.
That’s why I was so surprised by the price.

A lot of shill bidding. A no reserve auction for an F12 in Tampa ended with me as the next highest bidder. 215K I think for a 2014. Was listed at the time for 259. I called and they acted like nothing happened and it was in fact still for sale.

Contact the seller and see. Good News is if they didnt sell, at that price, they may make a deal at a slightly higher number off ebay.

Try this_looks legit actually if you like Blue.

Agree, there are a lot of 488 Spiders /GTB for what is good money.

that's my hesitation with grabbing a 488. The 458 spider seems to be holding the best out, closely by the 458 as long as they're specced correctly (carbon interior, parking sensors, race seats). Actually I've seen low optioned 458 still going for high numbers. Also, I haven't gotten used to the 488 noise level, the turbo reminds me of my mclaren which wasn't exacly inspiring (sound wise) - great car, just missing sound.

If you’re concerned about depreciation, the 458 is the way to go.

488 is produced in higher numbers, came during a time of far stiffer competition from Mclaren, Porsche, and Lamborghini, and runs the likelihood that its replacement will be similar but better in every way.

The older the car, clearly less depreciation. Buying a 360 or 430, with relatively low miles, can be sold in a couple of years with virtually no depreciation.
