What Chances of a title for Ferrari in 2015?

1. No chance – from here on wins for SF will be as rare as rocking horse poo

2. No realistic chance – maybe some good results but it’s Merc, it’s as certain as death and taxe

3. A realistic chance – The boys in red have all the momentum

4. It’s in the bag – As the pressure piles up, Lewis & Merc will make more & more bonehead moves

Seb is 49 points behind Lewis in the race for the driver's title and Ferrari is 153 points behind Mercedes for the constructors title. 6 races to go.

So what are the chances and why?

No way.

<<<Tin hat on>>>

Singapore was just a rare one off. Now that Toto Wolff knows who is the boss, they´ll get standard tyres and will be ahead again.

<<<Tin hat off>>>>

Hopefully Hamilton will have another bain fade and our guys will be able to get a lucky win like at Hungary.

Nope, almost impossible, SEb is no doubt a better driver than the Merc boys but Hamilton's advantage is to big, and i believe the Merc will continue to be the best car.....but i would bet on yet another victory for Ferrari...of course with a couple of misfortunes, and if the Ferrari is up to pace anything can happen

I'd consider it a win if Vettel out scores ham in the final 6 races. To make up 50 points though... I'm not holding my breath.

Unless they win in Suzuka Ferrari are not going to take a title this year. This race is the key. Another fail by Mercedes and the title chase is open.

If silver cars can't get heat and keep rears working look out . The tire pressure deal could be a real problem for them silver cars

Mercedes decided they have enough margin to work on developing reliability issues for next years car in this season. They are getting a string of DNF's as a result.

The flatter and smoother the pavement, the more advantage to Mercedes. Ferrari may stand a chance again in Brazil.

Just put me in the *hopeful* category.

I do like, that unlike past years, instead of "This season is over after the race, we are working on next year's cars", Ferrari is staying in the game.

Yes we might. Two years now and Merc won almost every race on a silver plate. Now, we need one more win from Seb, probably another DNF from Hamilton, and then we will see who will start to crack under pressure.

Ferrari and Vettel have nothing to lose. Mercedes have everything to lose, IMO.

Suzuka will tell all. IF they are highly competitive relative to Mercedes, by which I mean they're able to either snatch pole or come within 2 tenths of it, they have a shot.

A lot of work went into the car for SGP. They managed to create a lot of downforce for seb, at the rear, which he loves. New floor and everything.

If Vettel snatches pole/wins this weekend we're in for an epic 6 races and a terrific comeback fight.

If what Brundle and the other BBC commentator were saying is true, ie. that the Mercedes cars had electronic problems due to interference by electrical cables running under the road in Singapore then YES Ferrari can win IF they create a device to replicate that issue. This device can be activated from the pit wall and pointed at Eltons car as he races by.

Some would call this cheating ...

We might snatch a good result here and there, but I think Mercedes have so much performance that the titles are essentially wrapped up for them. Singapore was a bit of an anomaly for them.

All the best,
Andrew.

Ferrari quietly has been making massive aero improvements to the car in Singapore.

That said, Red Bull also highly competitive at SGP might put things into perspective a bit...

As long as it is mathematically possible (whatever the odds), Ferrari shouldn't loose hope.

If they can win in Suzuka, and Kimi wakes up long enough to take second and squeeze more points out of Merc, then maybe, just maybe. Assuming the car is competitive, then Kimi is the key…

Much as I'd love it, I don't think we can make up the difference. The merc hasn't become a dog over one weekend, for whatever reason, they misse the cut in Singapore. Even if Ferrari have caught up, even if they have become the best, they have to get at least one, if not two, drivers between vettel and Elton every race to the end.

Merc won't let nico beat Elton anyhow, he would be told to give the lead to kimi if it suited Elton, and with the pressure, Sebs car will be ferraris focus 1000%, so kimi and his car will be susceptible to issues.

At the usual circuits, red bull, Williams and the others can't really be taken as serious contenders to split the top two teams.

Although I fully expect Ferrari to give merc a few scares and bloody noses over the next few races, and I don't doubt elton will explode at various points, we would need six perfect races for Seb, six of the best from Kimi, and the mother of all breakdowns from eltons psyche and he's too well propped up by merc, he can do no wrong in their eyes. It's more likely they would order nico to park his car on lap two of every race than let him battle for second in the championship if it meant Elton could be hauled in
