I think there are a number of drivers who live in Monaco and have also won there. I am guessing that you mean he is the only one born there?

Just so the young people know, Chiron won the 1931 Monaco GP.

Stupidly Wikipedia makes his career look not so good by focusing on F1 and 24 hrs Le Mans only in their highlight panel. Young people do need to understand that top level motor racing very much occurred before F1 and Formula 1 was just a mere name change.

So in effect Chiron won the 1931 F1 Monaco GP.

Yes, titanic achievement, definitely solidifies his spot as a Monaco legend

That was the old, pre-crash Massa, when he used to be quick (IMHO). From the James Allen story linked in the first post, "Massa hasn’t qualified in the top 10 in Monaco since 2010 and has only outqualified a team-mate once in the last seven Monaco GPs."

I predict Massa will finally outqualify a teammate for the second time in the last 8 Monaco GPs (I doubt anyone would bet against that! ;) ), but will also predict that he continues his streak of finishing lower than 10th since 2010.

I think Ferrari has a great chance, even if Mercedes fixes their setup problems from P2. I wouldn't be surprised, and would actually be very happy, to see a podium featuring Vettel, Kimi, and Riccardo. Better yet, Kimi, Vettel, and Riccardo! :D

Yep after Merc's dreadful FP2 (ok they where held up also, but they're suffering from traction problems, wheelspinning out of slow corners constantly), I think Ferrari has a really good shot at pole and a win....Fingers crossed for a 1-2 with Red Bull buffer between them and Mercedes!

Agreed. Surprised at how well RB seems to be going. Hope they can keep it up and mix it with the Mercs whilst the Ferraris disappear up the road to a glorious 1 - 2 victory!

I made a comment before Barcelona that we shouldn't judge their performance there if the upgrade worked or not, as the tires where hard compounds, something the RB wasn't comfortable on at all during pre-season testing. They where closer than I thought they'd be in qualifying, and now on the SS and US tires here, they could well be a factor.

All true. That has the potential to mix things up nicely. The safety car is also likely to play a material role in this race. Given how wide the cars are, and how difficult they are to handle at the limit, it has to be an almost certainty that the SC will be out at least once (on lap 1) and perhaps again later in the race.

Luck could play a significant role in this race. The most prudent strategy would be to qualify as high up the grid as possible and plan for the fewest possible number of pit stops as track position will be key here more than any year in recent memory.

Called it! :D I am indeed very happy, but still slightly disappointed that it didn't work for Kimi to win.

Nice..except that Rubens was in 2nd, and Eddie was in 3rd, in that Jaguar which the following season lost it's diamond nose!
