I can no longer get into reverse gear without 5~10 minutes of repeat trying. Car is 6spd manual 360

Good news is that I can reverse by manually push the car with man power^_^, and 1st~6th gear shifts butter smooth.

What can be the cause? is this caused by the well known "reverse gear bushing" or "shifter bushing"? Thanks in advance

    Could be!

Dis-assembly for replacement of bushing really doesn't take all that long at all. If I were you I'd follow the instructions for replacement of that busing and see what you find along the way. Could simply be some foreign body has slipped down there and is preventing engagement. Even if it is the bushing you'll not have wasted your time as you'll do the whole replacement in 15 minutes next time around.

If you have side to side play in your shifter, yes your bushing is shot.
Easy replacement for any do it yourselfer..

Any other symptoms? Shifting issues while driving in any other gear? Chatter, shaking in any gear?

Thanks guys, I greatly appreciate the responds

I will try that today by following the informative write up by chrmer3

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249934&highlight=reverse

Please pardon my ignorance, can you please elaborate about the "side to side play"?

Once the in gear the side to side play is limited by the gate from left to right, approximately 2mm. Therefore, I am slightly confused. I did ordered the metal shifter bushing from Ricambiamerica last night as preventive measure even if that is not the cause.

There are currently no other symptoms, every gear and driving is perfect

It feels like something is blocking and not allowing me to put the shifter into reverse. I press down on the shifter to slid the shifter into left side of the gate. From there, sliding the shifter down into reverse is near impossible. It just feels like something is blocking.

I am taking the 360 in for bushing replacement and linkage inspection tomorrow. I can't wait.

I still drive the 360, quite frustrating when it takes 60 minutes of cooling down before I can get into reverse. This only happen after I drive it, once the car cools down, no problem. It's quite strange.

Hmm...... very interesting alright. Only a problem when hot? Gets me thinking of oil level within the gearbox and/or heat effecting the linkage cables at the rear of the car.

I'll be standing by for the ultimate diagnosis. Hope it's not too severe on the pocket!

Problem solved by the awesome crew at Ferrari Service of Costa Mesa. They rocks.

Take a look at the pic, this is what caused the problem.

What is the picture of? The linkage part that you had ordered from Hill Engineering?

Yes, that is the shifter bushing original junk Ferrari one.
Out of curiosity how much they charge you? Takes me under 1 hour & thats a very relaxed pace..
Hope they installed your Hill part and not the same cheap Ferrari one.. or you will be doing it again :)
