Can I mix Dextron 3 and ATF +4 in my F1?

    I posted this in the 348/355 section and got no response so I thought I would try here.

    I have Vavoline dextron 3 synthetic ATF in my F1 pump now. I'm wondering if it would be ok to top it off with Vavoline ATF 4? The auto parts guy says they are basically the same thing.
    I just read online that ATF 4 is a dextron fluid with a package of friction modifiers to improve shifting characteristics.
    And that Dextron lll and ATF 4 are compatiable.

    What does the brotherhood have to say?
