I'm naturally uninterested in society as a whole, for various reasons (whether it be left or right views). You'd plain and simple never catch me at a show, mostly due to the fact that anyone in the entire USA can afford a Ferrari or similar. They all just choose not to put their heads down and work for it. I've seen a dishwasher in NJ who works 16 hours a day 7 days a week earn 200k last year. There's no excuse, other than can't work/won't. If you do the bare minimum in life, you'll receive the bare minimum.

Really? I’d like to hear all about the place that pays a dishwasher an average of $35/hr with overtime…. Insane, naive and ridiculous post.

Factor in opportunity, credit score, expenses, responsibilities, available jobs/careers/business ideas, taxes, intelligence, available time to work, family, inflation, and a hundred other real life things and the truth is nearly NO ONE can afford to buy a Ferrari…. Not anyone, not everyone, almost No one. Period.

Why am I even responding to such absurdity?

*I am ALSO extremely disinterested in society and people— mostly because of oblivious thought processes like yours above; the lack of intelligence, awareness and grasp on reality astounds me…. So I’ve chosen to ignore and not care—- yet, here I am responding to a perfect example…. I should also mentioned I’m bored. [emoji4]

Whoa hold your horses there buddy. It's $24hr, and at 72 hours in overtime per week, which is roughly 184k. I didn't think someone was going to cry about it, but okay I stretched it to 200k.

Also, I don't really understand your statement of nobody can afford a Ferrari. I agree, education isn't the absolute best in America, but if you can read and write, you can learn. Unless you have a legitimate learning disability, there's no excuse. If you are choosing to work a low paying wage due to the title, well that's your fault entirely. I know Mechanical Engineers who only earn $48HR, and had to get their bachelors. I also know Journeymen Ironworkers who earn $56hr, and didn't go to college, just an 8,000Hr/4 year apprentice where they started at $34hr. They work on average 20 hours of overtime per week, and here in 3 years the contract goes up to $60hr. They'll be at 218k per year, factor in a wife who isn't a bum? 300k/YR, easily Ferrari income. Will they buy a Ferrari? likely not, they'll drive a 70k 2500, pull an 80k travel trailer, and have the 55k boat on the weekends.
I don't think you realize a lot of America can 100% afford a Ferrari, especially the 255k used ones, but a majority choose not to spend this much on a car. These members of society will be your landlords, and people who invest into real-estate.

Methinks he should channel that work ethic into a job that actually pays well...he'd likely go farther a lot faster. Still, nice to hear of people working hard at something.

I think many people could "afford" a Ferrari if they really wanted one; it's all about priorities, your income and what percentage of that you decide is disposable, etc. I wouldn't say almost nobody can afford one. Tons of people spend Ferrari-sized funds on any number of things that aren't a Ferrari: boats, lake houses, RVs, you name it. OTOH, in many instances, the money spent on a Ferrari (or these other things) could be allocated in more "responsible" ways. But we only live once and where's the fun in that? ;)

LOL to the highest degree......although I know nothing about this dishwasher, almost anyone can buy a lower priced Ferrari given time, a solid plan, and work ethic. It isn't very hard given say a 7 year window. Took me 9 years to save up for my first exotic. We have seen many cases of young military guys buying Ferraris or Lamborghinis. I have known young tradesmen who did the same.

You are educated. That guy wants them to be all his, like that thing from LOTR. A 9 year window, is solid. Wait until he see's correction officers in NYC are making 300k a year with overtime. Tradesmen do make extremely well pay. My buddy is a journeymen lineman, blue collar, and he makes $50HR. When the storms went off in TX they had him doing $5,000WK.
I enjoy it when people don't understand that if you have a solid team couple, who both work and earn great money, life can be so much better. Before my wife switched over to Agency, she was working 4 16s, with 3 days off at $40hr. 40 hours at $60hr, 40 hours at $40hr $4,000WK every week, and then I go in with $3,500 and yes, we're set.

OH, and if people think "burn out." Nah, she did that stuff for 2 years. I got a healthy one lol. We all got Covid once, crap was like death.

I agree, and 100% agree. Maybe they don't like the thought that the brands are losing exclusivity. When the Chevy dealers are posting Z06's for 200k-300k, and people are still buying them, he may need to re-think. Plus, is it really that far-fetched to think someone saved 100k in a couple years and put it down on a 280k car? It can't be. Now yeah if I was shouting everyone can afford a $5M mansion, I could understand the Delima lol. In this day and age, if you are on the west coast and just getting into the market, $700k-$1M is about entry level, unless it's a Condo or an hour from anything.

    In 1 word, no!

Even if a beautiful woman who is 100% my type was asking me. Well…oh boy that’s a difficult answer now :)

I've been asked a few times - by a guy - if he can take pictures - I tell them, "only if your wife/girlfriend sits in the car for the pics!"

Involves them both and the chicks are less likely to have a pair lineman's pliers in their back pockets....

I’ve never had anyone ask to sit in my cars. I have had several ask if they can look or take pictures. One time, the father is a young man who was somewhere on the autistic spectrum asked if his some could look at a car. I asked if he wanted to sit in it which he did! It made that boy’s day for sure!

My cars are for enjoyment. They are not sacred. You can tell the folks that are presumptuous and those who also have a similar love for cars. I remember a man who invited my boys (and me) to sit in his Maclaren F1 when he saw us oogling over it. What a nice guy to share with enthusiasts!

On another note, I remember filling up at a gas station next to a guy who was driving a souped up rice burner. He commented on my car and acted embarrassed comparing it to his. I told him his car was fantastic also and that he obviously is a fanatic like me! We then had a fun short conversation about how crazy we car guys are. And it is true, we car guys are crazy!!

    Hahaha!

I actually ask kids if they want to sit in mine if I catch them checking it out (as long as they look respectful). My love for cars started at an early age and could only imagine how amazing it would have been to sit in any exotic when I was a kid. Part of the joy of ownership is being able to share that still present excitement with others and seeing them light up in the process. What good is something this amazing if you can't share it with others. I draw the line at adults though, you're past the age of wonder :D Not that I, myself wouldn't absolutely want to sit in someone's Enzo or similar. I just don't think it would go over well when I start yanking the steering wheel left and right, making race car noises in the process. I feel like you have to at least chat it up a bit and have some interesting conversation before you earn a spot in the driver's seat as an adult.

I’ve always let my friends and girlfriends drive my exotics (with me in it) - It doesn’t do enough to just explain why the car is so amazing; gotta let them FEEL it for themselves… have already let 4 guys (salespeople) at my dealership drive the F8 and I’m sure there will be more….

It just astounds me when people ask if they can take a picture of my car. I'm out in a public place, I have zero expectation of privacy. It is just simply courtesy on their part.

It is usually a kid who asks if they can take a pic of the car. I always say, "No, but I'll take a pic of you sitting in the car". That exceeds their expectations! :D

I have an instagram dedicated to people struggling to get in my F355 with it's hidden door handles.

I absolutely love giving people rides. I've let so many people drive my car. Their heads explode. It makes me so happy to see.

Brett - Your picture brought back a great memory. Years ago the Mid-atlantic Cars and Coffee group participated in a "prom" event for children battling serious illnesses that couldn't go to their own proms. They needed cars exotic/luxury to take these kids from one hospital building to the pavilion building where a make shift prom was setup. We rose to the occasion and had a turnout of 50 cars +/-. I drove our G63 at the time, I'll never forget how strong these individuals were and what an experience it was. I'm not here to tell others what to do with their cars, but of all the car related things I've ever done this ranks at/near the top every-time.

I love stories like this. Really cool of you and the other 50 or so others who turned out for this. We are all car people here, which is why just owning the cars for us is not enough. We then have to come onto forums to talk about and look at cars when we are not driving them. Imagine the joy of those children if they were anything like us. What a lovely experience. Thanks for sharing.

Edit: I just looked at your username, "Teen Ferrari Fan". Joined in 2003. 20 years ago you joined this site as a teenager, haha. Maybe then you were just a teenager who was a big fan of Ferrari with a desire to own one. I am making a presumption with that of course through some deductive reasoning. How the time flies, huh? It goes to show my point though about how big of fans we are and how much emotion and excitement they provide us throughout our entire lives.

Not to divert this thread, but it is slightly relevant and I posted this previously I'm sure somewhere else. I came to this site just wanting to talk about Ferrari's. Back then the options were few and far between, car magazines were published monthly (with only brief articles on the exotics), the internet/social media (was at its infancy) it wasn't plastered with new release information/pictures/videos on these cars, and the concept of actually owning these cars was very very foreign to me. I picked the name because I didn't want to mislead anyone about my lack of knowledge or offend them with my basic questions back then, I never thought I would be around 20 years!

I came here to learn about the stories of the vintage cars. I stayed because I got to know a lot of the members and at local events/rally's almost all of them always treated me like a fellow enthusiast (especially in those early years). I still check daily, but don't post as much. I probably should change my name, but it always reminds me of a past time in my life (when I was just a kid with a dream). For those that care, I currently have a Z06, my Dad also owns several Ferrari's. People were always supportive of me and my Dad in regards to cars, so we try and pay it forward.

Apparently you have not been to the factory for a few years. The new building housing all retired F1 and XX cars next to Fiorano is a showcase! The highlight of the tour and visually stunning. Glass windows overlooking the track. Jaw dropping.

I remember years ago hearing a Patek Philippe ad that said, “You never really own a Patek Philippe. You simply look after it for the next generation.” I think the same sentiment applies to Ferraris, at least the way I look at it.

Brett, your pic also reminded me of these pics from 2021 at an event for Connecticut Children's Hospital.
