For our 348 that is.... does this need to be done by a specialty shop or can Jiffy Lube or Pepboys perform this task? Don't they need to remove the rear wheel front splash guards to get to the radiators or something like that?

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

I guess they could. I would keep an eye on the car the entire time. Our local Jiffy Lube guys aren't the brightest bulbs...

I don't even think they would qualify as bulbs, more like candles or matches.

Don't let them near it. Go to a Mercedes or BMW stealership.

If you take a Ferrari to Jiffy Lube you are just asking for trouble. Just look up any one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of Jiffy Lube horror stories on the Internet. :(

Thanks guys! I let my Z shop charged up R12 freon today and brought them a little print out from the forum on how to flush the radiator and they said that it should be no problem. So I'm going to start feeding my Z mechanic simple maintenance stuff and see how it goes.

I'd think that if anyone were skilled or talented enough to work on any Ferrari they wouldn't be at a place like jiffy lube. The Z shop is definately in the right direction but I'd go with the MB or BMW guys, like billyfitness said. Actually, I'd rather do it myself ;)

I'm getting a vision of Ferris Bueller II...instead of two valets though...it's two Jiffy Lube guys doing the dirty deed to a 348.

I would not use Juffy Lube in the same sentance for any car that ends with an " i "

The words Jiffy Lube and Ferrari are not synonomous!

I was only considering Jiffy Lube because I thought that a flush machine is needed and that's not something you can do at home unless you're just doing a simpled drain and fill.

Sounds like you guys are telling me using Jiffy Lube is like dating stripper.... convenient but lots of trouble down the road.

It's a bit worse than that, because with the stripper you'll at least get kissed!

Jiffy Lube did my 30k service in an hour for only $189! Sorry, bad joke. Search "Jiffy Lube Horror stories". I did that and been reading for hours. I even boycott dealers now. Last time Weber Chitfillet did my Blazer oil, I had to use a breaker bar to loosen my drain bolt torqued to over 150 ft lbs! Oil filter had to be cut off in pieces.People often gripe about if a car not serviced by "authorized" shop. After 35 years of wrenching, nobody touches my car except me or a guy named Klause who has been building race cars for 50 years. Weber also did an 'alignment' on the Blazer and only changed frt toe from 1/8" to zero. I told them it was off now, and told em they did a 'set(misset) toe n let er go". He acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. Zisser Tire also misbalanced my tires. I told em their balance off just like it was 7 yrs ago!! Again, blank stares. Firestone actually did it right after I warned them I knew the difference. I can't get a decent balance or alignment in this town! An alignment on a 348 should take a half day, not 10 minutes. Nobody cares about yer car but you. Sorry for being a grinch. Also, Dobbs insisted 15" trailer tires they sold me didn't need to be balanced. After almost starting a war, I pointed out tire cost included balance, they reluctantly relented. They still won't admit a 15' trailer tire n wheel off 4 oz wears, shakes or taxes the bearings. I got tired of trying to convince them n told them to do it my way. Too many idiots in the industry.

Jiffy Lube was recently on the news for fraud at multiple locations. Ferrari and Jiffy Lube should never be used in the same sentence.

add me to the list. I had them change all the fluids in my diesel dually. They put in 2 pints instead of 2 quarts in the transfer case. It blew up in Baker, CA last weekend where it was a cool 105 degrees. I would not let them any where near a Ferrari or any car for that matter.

    Cheers

Yikes is right. It could have been much worse if it went into 4 low instead of just coming out of 2 high. Looks like a small claims suit in Houston for starters.

    Cheers
