Thats the big question sarrounding this wonder driver that the British press are salivating over every second of the day?

Lets look at the facts, the first half of the year he seemed to rely on FA's settings which in turn were from you know where during the 2nd half of the season his performances werent quite a startling when compared to the mid season. Whats going to be interesting is next year when he doesnt have a 2 time WDC to rely on for set up info where he will be.

Point two regards the developement of the car, from what I understand he playes very little part in the development of the 2007 car one wonders what sort of step forward we can expect from the 2008 Mac and whether he as the number 1 driver will be able to give adequate feedback and be enable the car to progress as the season unfolds, this was an area when MS was very strong and while its unrealistic to expect a rookie to be as good as a 7 time WDC one would expect some sort of ability, especially when one looks at the hype which in my opinion is just that hype.

The fact remains the 2007 Mac was the best car on the grid, I would have far rather seen Lewis in a Renault and be able to drag a bad car to the front of trhe grid then have the best to start off with. That to me is the fundamental problem, how good is he? We will only know when he isnt sitting inthe best car...

    Just my opinion.

I am guessing it will be another inexperienced driver than Ron can control...the real issue is Ron couldnt control FA.....

I think to be a good development driver you have to want to put in the effort.
Right now Lewis is motivated and dedicated. A second year "rookie" is carrying the team on his shoulders.
I think he will step up.
What the team needs now is a salty old dog #2 driver like Stallone in "Driven".
    No steet antics ;)

08 will be very telling for this. I won't categorically say it can't be done by a new(er) driver, but I would bet dollars to donuts that experience and seat time is your best friend here, and I would be HIGHLY surprised if he could develop a championship level car.

Very much my sentiments and one does wonder how long it will be before Lewis and Ron have a major falling out, lets face it Lewis really doesnt need Ron now, sure he needed him earlier in his career but for the first time he actually doesnt have to agree and do as Ron says.

Same as he was ,if FA helped Lewis he could have helped him win but didnt so without him he probably would have.

So if its just hype why do you expect any feed back in car set up.

So to quote a worn out phrase yet again beating and keeping up with a 2xWDC in the same car meant nothing to you then..

The notion of drivers developing cars is about as silly as the notion that drivers win championships, and not cars.
Cars win championships, and engineers develop cars. Drivers drive the cars and communicate essential information back to the engineers which, in turn, use that information to develop the car.
We know that Lewis can drive. So the question really is: Is Lewis a good communicator?
