I'm in a small town and there is no exotic type service shop near me. I would like to get my TRs alignment checked and adjusted if necessary. We do have a very good shop here in town with true car guys who have been around for a long time. But would they have the necessary stuff to do a 4 wheel alignment on a TR? Are there special shims required, or other unique parts?

I was quoted $400 by the local dealer here to do my BB, they said its alot of work and few things need to be removed, the shims also look Ferrari specific but a substitute might be able to be used. I would be concerned with the quality of labor at these typical tire and alignment shops removing the parts.

If you are good a local ex Le Mans Porsche mechanic here does it with rulers and tape measures, he says its more accurate than machines but takes almost a full day, maybe its not that difficult for a shade tree guy to do as well.

Drive it, trailer it, whatever, to the closest Ferrari trained shop. Why take a chance?

It is not rocket science, if they have done nice work for you in the past why not let them at it? I can not think of anything on the car that is in the way, and would have to be removed. Standard shims can be used but it is unlikely that it has changed much unless you have had something replaced or bent, they might just check it, make sure the track is square, "set toe and let it go". Are there any reasons that you feel the need to check it? Strange tire wear or something during driving?

I've noticed the car seems to push to the right, very slight but I feel it, under hard acceleration. Just normal driving is fine.

My 2 cents' worth - take it to someone who is familiar with working on Ferraris. regards, Pete
