    Hi Fellow Ferrari Chatter,

I was just thinking if Schumi can beat Alonso for the Formula 1 chamoipnship Title. Can it be done? Alonso is the current points leader with 19 points ahead of Schumi? Is it possible can Ferrari pull it off ??

What do you ferrari chatters think? or would Schumi have to settle for second in the points chase...

    thanks
    john

He can do it, if Alonso has a couple DNFs....

Not likely, the way Renault looks this year.....

    :(

There is already a thread like this man, but to answer your question...not unless Alonso doesn't finish in the top 5 positions in a couple races or doesn't finish at all. Michael and Ferrari seem to be closing the gap, but remember how good the Renault package is this year.

Of course he can. The season is only halfway over. It could definitely be done. 19 points is not a big margin, espeicially for Schumi. Dont doubt him. He is the best that ever lived.

Mathematically he can, and Shumi is not a 'quitter', he will try to the end; that's his mental strength.
Problem is that the Renault is still reliable, Alonso is 'level-headed' and knows how to play damage limitation when he is not the fastest.
Could become very close at the end.

I was thinking no a couple of races back. Ferrari says that they have improved their package since the indy race and have added 20 horse. The Bridgestones are also supposed to be improved. If and thats a big if this is all true then Alonso will have pressure on him for the first time. I dont think he will drive the same if Mike gets the gap under 10 points. This weekends race in france could tell all. PS good ridens Pablo, whos career highlight was putting a pass on Mike. LOL

The thing is that the engine Fisi had at the USGP also have 20+ HP, that is the engine Alonso will have next GP, that in the hands of Alonso usually means faster laps than Fisi, the difference may stay the same with the Ferraris.

No way in hell, Alonso is too consistent. Now if it were Kimi in the lead i'd have to say yes it is possible.

I'm not even convinced the Ferrari is faster than the Renault.

There sure are alot of these threads aren't there.

Alonso will have to start making mistakes if Schumi is going to win.

Not straight up. The lead is too big, and it would require some bad luck on Renault's part.

It may come down to the #2 drivers on each team ; Who will set up blocking better and be the needed assist.
If this is the case Massa gets my vote. Fisi is slated to be #1 at Renault next year. His priorities may be focused on himself.
Massa needs to prove he is a team player and will do so.
Schumi has a very good chance.

Michael's gain on Alonso at INDY could be repeated 5 more times, Michael would have a 1 point lead. Does not require a DNF from Alonso.
Realisticaly, NO. I have to agree with that Michelin errored on the side of safety, to not have a repeat of last year.
That being said, I still wear my red and wave my Michael Flag!
