    Hello!

I'm looking at this vehicle and ran a car fax.
What I don't understand is the Type of Owner: Corporate Fleet.
Does this mean a corp. bought it for their VP's to use or something?
Or even worse, was it used as a rental?

Or was it just one guy leasing the vehicle through his business.

I'm looking over the documentation for the inconsistent odometer readings. But apparently, the sellers have a reason with documentation from a ferrari dealer of why this became so.

Any insights would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    rental, most of the time.

OD readings can be off if the cluster with the OD needed replacing, I saw this myself on a 512TR for sale at WWOC.

A Ferrari in this category has a good chance of being an executive perk. I had some vehicles leased for me (I picked them, my company bought them and put them into a fleet leasing program) as part of my comp package at one company I was at. I'm sure those would have shown up as corporate fleet as this carfax shows.

In addition to the obvious personal benefits, the exec has good reason to maintain the car well: 1) the company is paying the maintenance costs, and 2) the company often gives the exec the first opportunity to buy the car out (which is usually on a high depreciation schedule due to the high mileage that most sales rep, delivery and service vehicles that make up the bulk of corporate fleets see). If the exec treats the car properly, it is usually well-sorted and nicely discounted at buyout time. That is exactly what I did with my cars and I bought each one out at well below market when their lease terms expired. Note the low miles and regular maintenance from 99-2002 in the carfax service history (apparently it got stored for a couple of years from 2002-04). A rental car might have similar maintenance history, but its mileage history would probably be higher.

That being said, you do have to be careful as all this is guesswork and the actual circumstances could have been more abusive; it's just that the clues suggest a positive scenario.

If you are really serious about this car, before you put your money down, have an authorized dealer give it a serious check. Shelton Ferrari may be your best choice. Also consider having your attorney draw up a purchase contract.
