The handbook makes no mention of a relay for direction indicators but I can hear it so there has to be one?

    Thank you

Your OM (155/78) indicates that the same flasher (item 63 on page 105) is used for both the direction indicators and the emergency (hazard) warning lights (although, on page 103, relay A is only described as "Relay for emergency flashing"). You should be able to just "feel" the outside case of relay A (picture shown on page 102) when you have the direction indicator lights "on" and confirm/deny if it is doing the flashing.

The turn flasher is on the relay panel - the upper left relay.
The relay panel is left of the fuse panel - under passenger side dash cover.
That panel cover on any other car's dashboard would be the glove box.

Following on from this can anyone please recommend a supplier/part number? I can't make out what is written on mine and just wondering if there is a better relay available?

    Thanks

Take it into a traditional car accessory place - they should be able to match it - then again didn't someone do a thread recently about Tyco matches - or maybe it was in the cross reference section - tho they may not apply in the uK

The standard flasher changes click rate with load, so if one bulb burns out you can tell by it slowing down substantially...or if there is a short, it will flash very quickly.

But that may not be desired if you have replaced all the lights with led bulbs or reduced the current with relays. The newer electronic flashers are better to accomodate this dilemma.

But for the standard car, the standard one-size-fits-all is best.
