Hey. I'm from Hampton, VA and I might have a job down in Warner Robins, GA or Sumter, SC doing IT work for the AFB. I already posted this question in the SC section now I'm posting it here. Can anyone give me any real information about the location. Perusing the city website only gives me so much information. I've been in Rochester, NY for 6 years and before that Hampton, VA for 6 years (I'm 23) so I'm not really a big city person nor am I a 'boonies' type of person. Any information on what life is like down there would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Warner Robbins is most definately in the Boonies.. its a long way from anywhere... about 2hrs from Atlanta on a good day... its great if you like Hot, Heat, Humidity and nats! oh yea did I mention the heat?

nice airforce base and meuseum.... to my knowledge thats about it! it's a military town... but if you are in upstate NY... then it may be a nice change... you will have sun for about 360 days a year....

With a population of about 58,000, Warner Robins is at least large enough to have plenty of amenities, but if that's not enough, Macon is only 18 miles away, and Atlanta is 100. And you're that much closer to Florida than we are.

The Museum of Flight at the air base is a fairly nice museum, definitely worth the trip. And the Georgia National Fair is held in Perry, not too far away. Macon has the Georgia halls of fame for both music and sports.

The Macon/Warner Robins area is far from being the boonies. The pace is slower than the Atlanta area which many including myself , think is good. I grew up in Macon and after college lived there until 1980. Since you stated you are not the big city type, you would probably enjoy the laid back style of Central Georgia.

I lived in Macon for three years while in law school...after living in the Atlanta area for 21+ years now, I would love to get back to the slower pace of a town like Macon...

I know I'm a bit late to this thread, but I live in Warner Robins. It might not be a large city, but it is not like living in the "boonies". We have most main franchise restaurants, A mall (kinda), and the usual Wal-Mart/Target etc. My wife and make almost weekly trip to Atlanta and/or Buckhead to get away but it's nice to come back to W.R. PM me with any questions you have. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability (I've lived here 30 years.)

BTW Nu-Way ROCKS! One of the owners is a friend of mine.
