I recent sold my 458 and upon purchasing it the dealer did an exhaust mod that pulled the vacuum lines or plugged them so the valves/baffles stayed opened. Can this also be done on the F12 or do I need a controller?

It can be done in the same manner, but better to have the controller for more, erm, control!

I find the drone on the motorway to be annoying, being able to close the valves is great

Just purchased an F12 and, as part of the transaction, had the authorized Ferrari dealer "pin" the exhaust valves open. Don't know how they do it, but it certainly is able to be done.

I just recently purchased an F12 and asked the dealer to install an exhaust valve controller before shipping it. They suggested disconnecting the vacuum lines to the exhaust valves saying the exhaust note wouldn't be overbearing. After receiving the car, I was convinced they forgot to disconnect the vacuum lines and just today took it to a local shop where low & behold the dealer did as promised.

My 430 had a full IPE exhaust and I mostly drove around with the valves closed which I felt was slightly louder than stock - open it was admittedly a bit obnoxious, however, the F12 with valves fixed to always open is pretty subtle by comparison. I've already had a 2-hour drive and didn't find the exhaust note w/valves open annoying.

it's actually pretty loud if you're outside as a spectator, but i've noticed the sound dampening inside the F12 makes the noise a lot less than my 458 even with windows down.
