Anyone offer a warrantly for Testarossas? And are they legit and actually cover anything in the real world?

The answer to your question is , No. Ferrari will only go back 11 years for a 12 cyl car, for instance a 1997 Maranello , if certified would qualify for 1 year powertrain.

I assume you mean a non-Factory extended warranty.

In my opinion this is impossible in the real world. Either (a) it will be from some back-alley type company that will run so far away that the Thialand vice squad could not find them, or (b) it will cost more than your Testarossa in the first place, including a major every year.

Having said that, I will tell you my experience on a 1996 Corvette LT4. It spun the front main bearing at about 21,000 miles and needed a new block. This is in "factory warranty" on miles but outside it for months (barely 25 months old out of 24). I had oil change receipts, etc...and can you believe it? The chevy district manager intervened and gave me a new short block + cost of installation!!!

Long story short, the "new block" spun it's front main bearing again at 27,000 miles - just idling at a light.

I decided to dump the wreckage as salvage and bought a 2004 Z06. Lady of the house wanted me to be sure and buy extended warranty just in case. Now, sales manager at the dealership won't sell me a factory one, but has plenty of really tacky-looking alternatives from which to choose. Point being that I was not considered "good enough to be in good hands" anymore.

    Maybe they think I am a Corvette-wrecker?

Must correct some guys posting here. In 2005 i bought a 1994 512tr with about 3.000 miles from an authorized dealer in Belgium. I negotiated a one year warranty on motor and drive train (same as ferrari power) and they agreed. In the first year i had different (garage queen) problems and they all solved them without any costs, towed me several times and so on. In this year i drove about 9.000 miles. Since then the car runs perfect! So it is a matter of negotiating, nothing is impossible.
