I really like the looks of this car but can not remember what it is. Any help? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Sebring was a sort of "bridge model" between the 3500GT and the Mistral; it was, in fact, a largely-rebodied 3500GT. It came in a Series I and Series II version. The essential difference was the interior, which in the Series II had the absolutely gorgeous Mistral dashboard?instrumentation. Because it was a "bridge model", there were not too many Sebrings made. Pity, as to some eyes (mine at least) it's one of the most arrogantly beautiful Masers ever made.
Last time I checked in Hemmings (that one appeared), maybe 10 or 15 years ago the asking was ~$30K, white, ratty and in Florida IIRC .....times do change!
The car pictured is a Series 1 version, so it would probably date from 1962 or 1963. This is Maserati tipo 101/10. There were 348 1st series examples, and 98 of the 2nd series. Taking a look at the price guides in the latest issues of the British classic car magazines, they are showing a value of about 22,000 Pounds for one in show condition, which seems awfully low.
Always one of my absolute favorite Masers, just gorgeous. Still pretty undervalued, IMO, although rapidly climbing. Check this one out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Maserati-Sebring-II-1966_W0QQitemZ4562978740QQcategoryZ6313QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem A Dream project, if only I had the garage, the $$, and the wife who'd let me. . .(!) I believe a restored one recently went for $80k+ on e-bay. They'll be 100k cars soon enough
