Can you run steel rotors in front and ceramic in rear?

    I have a cracked ccm rotor in the front I was considering instead of replacing a single rotor can I convert both front to steel and leave the rears ceramic? Let me know thank you guys

    I’m no expert but that sounds dangerous. You would have two different types of brakes occurring simultaneously.

    While I am sure you can do that, I expect the ABS to be effected in a way that might cause issues. I would not recommend doing that at all. Just put steel brakes on all four wheels.

    Putting high quality steel brakes front and rear on that car is like $6-$7k not sure why you would only consider doing half.

    I’m not sure this is a good idea under any circumstances. The braking system was designed with extreme conditions in mind.

    Why do you think the front rotor cracked?

    Works fine the other way around (ceramic front, steel rear) since I and a couple others had that set-up for a few years, but not with the CCMs on the back.

    Cold the car can handle it. Ferrari bragged at 360 school with modern brake systems you could put 4 different brakes on the car and it would stop fine.

    But as they got heat in them the fronts would be losing effectiveness and the rears increasing. I really don't think its a good idea.
