Was at the Ferrari of Long Island Concours Event sunday....Take a look at the 1st place winner ..scroll down to red carpet shot of 84 boxer.

    http://www.ferrarili.com/events_pages/events_armani_2004_right.htm

of 110 ferraris there that day 78 were entered in the concours, long Islanders are serious ferrari owners, every one was immaculate...But It seems that Ferrari of Long Island used the wrong terminology for this event...It was not a concours show, it was a pay tribute to which client of thiers spends the most money on their service dept....To me Ferrari Concours means who has the closest specimen of a ferrari to the way that the factory delivered the car originally.Period!. No add ons no deletions....I entered my 84 boxer as well and as the Judges left my car I was told there were NO Deductions...Ok! so how does an equal condition car with GTO wheels and Modern low series Radials win 1 st place....some one is either sleeping with the boss or they have spent an awful lot of money with the service depo. I believe the latter is the case. What I want to know is?
    WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO INTEGRITY!
    It was a Bogus Event.....................

This wasn't a Concours judged to Pebble/FCA standards. The Judges weren't necessarily Ferrari Experts. They were celebrities who like cars. They would have no way of knowing how much one did or didn't spend at FOLI. The car that won "Best in Show" hasn't spent a single penny at FOLI service center and I've never bought a car from them either. I do consider them friends and would highly reccomend their service and sales department but I doubt the judges knew that.

I for one like this kind of judging. The Greenwich Concours uses it as well.
IMO it's more about the overall car and less about whether or not the screw heads line up.

    You car looked GREAT!

    Best

A lot of folks call it a "concours" when it fact it is a "car show" . In a car show, originality means nothing...what matters there is what car the judges and/or spectators like best. I suspect you won't include these results in your many ads to sell your Boxer now will you? :) LOL

Sorry Jim, But the car that won best in show ( yours) would have won any where anytime anyway, anyhow! that car that won 1st was wrong, its not sour grapes, its not the method of judging. That man patronized Foli..There were others at the show more correct than his...You could say it was Political Nepitism.

the car was the equivilent of the Mona Lisa wearing a miniskirt...It just didnt go! and the commendatore( Enzo)would not approve.

I came for the snacks being served at Armani. I was not disappointed.

I don't know anything about FoLI but don't the European concourses go by how the car presently appears, mods included (kind of like a beauty pageant)? I thought one of the 308s looked better with light mods that the stock ones. Then again, I'm not a purist.

    Regards,

    Art S.

Mikey, are we bitter or what ? What I stated in my earlier post is 100% correct. I go to many car shows where the judging is done by spectators. I win some and lose some...but, I don't complain that the judging was unfair. It seems to me that you are the one acting like the stereotype of a "lawyer"; blaming the judging when you don't win!

Michael, i think it was more of a gathering than a concours. The concours theme was just something that they just came up with and i am sure that this year was just a trial and it will get better as they go along.

I honestly don't think that the judges were bias it that was the case then i think i should have won. I have bought over 6 cars from them during the past two years.

By the way were did you park your car?

Really, they are all bogus. As are all other events that require a judge to determine the winner, like dog shows, gymnastics ice-skating, ect. It all comes down to an opinion in the end, no matter how fair they may try to be about it. Is getting a trophy going to change whether you enjoy the car or not? If YOU are happy with the way your car looks, smile and enjoy the day.

Personally I would display my car, but would never consider entering a show event, because I just don’t much care about some else’s opinion of my car. I like it.

When I feel the need to compete, I race something. There are no opinions involved, you either crossed the finish line first or you didn’t. Black and white with no arguments….simple things for a simple person I guess :)

    Maui, Hi
I agree with Mark, and add that I feel like Winner every time I take my
"F"-car for a ride, and I dont need no stinkin judge to approve that feeling.

So us "F"-car owners can do a twist on an old Mel Brooks movie.
"WE don't need no stinkin judges"

Enjoy your winning drive in your "F"-car.. and the judges can F-themselves

caution mind thoes P's and Q's and F's please.
