wondering if it can be put on a windshield... of course the material would have to be crystal clear..if there is such a brand..... just tired of the rock chips...

    Hi,

You cannot put PPF on the windshield because of the film not being clear enough but they do make film for windshields. Clearplex is one brand. I have installed quite a few pieces on the windshield so any questions let me know. Thanks

I have a clear film on the inside of the windscreen....it blocks most of the UV and reduces alot of heat on the dash.

I am thinking of a clear film on the exterior of the glass to prevent rock chips

Like above quoted--Clearplex. Look it up, then see if it fits your needs.

Technically, AFAIK, just like adding dark(er) window tinting on front (driver/passenger doors) side windows, adding any film, clear or not, on to windshield is not DOT (read: safety) compliant.

Protective film for windshields came out quite a while back, but then quickly died as it's a great idea but not practical. Wipers will ruin it first time and most windshields are not at all flat and protective films need a little stretch in most cases to lay perfectly flat. If overstretched it can leave marks in the film and will be worse then having rock chips. You'd really need a highly qualified installer to do the job and most of those guys won't install windshields, plus way too many liabilities.
