Supposedly out in 2007, I have heard NOTHING about this car. It has very "interesting" design however a pretty monsterous engine... Here's some articles I found on it. Welcome the Locus Plethore Canadian super car manufacturer Locus is ready to drop a bomb on the automotive industry with its new 750 hp or 1300 hp powered automobile named the PLETHORE. The 2007 Locus PLETHORE, nicknamed the Quebec Bomb, is the first Canadian super car that features an exotic design matched by amazing power. Designed by Mr. Luc Chartrand, who is an electronic and composite material specialist, the PLETHORE is made completely of the lightweight racing material known as carbon fiber and has a central driving position just like the McLaren F1. Which means the driver puts on the show for its two other passengers which ride behind the driver. I believe that you could charge admission for such an experience. Mr. Chartrand passionately comments that: Not only does it offer incredible visibility from the central driver position, the car also provides room for as many as three people up to 66 in height a first for this class of vehicle. With a price tag of $330, 000 CDN, one can easily see the Locus PLETHORE being snatched up by Professional NHL players and the like. Be quick though because there will only be a limit of 400 PLETHOREs produced per year with the first orders of the vehicle will be taken by the end of summer 2007. FROM ANOTHER ARTICLE: Having more than 22 years of experience in the fiber reinforced composite materials and in the exception car building, working, repairing and modifying Lamborghinis and other prestigious models, Luc Chartrand launched out into the design of a car that would represent perfection to him in terms of esthetics and mechanics. After more than two years, he finally found a quite impressive concept. Inspired by other designers, he imagined a car that would stand out from others: with a really advanced interior and a quite large rear, an enormous air intake on each side, the LOCUS has no cause to be envious of any other cars in her class. Often encouraged by friends, themselves Lamborghini owners, to get involved in the making of a prototype, Luc finally decided to produce one. The making goes well and the prototype that will serve as the mother mold is almost finished. The enthusiasm of people for this model is already noticeable. Check out the Quebec Bomb at the Montreal International Autoshow from Jan 19 to 28, 2007 for a look at a machine that stands to push Canada into the international supercar scene. http://auto.commongate.com/post/Locu...hore_Supercar/ PICS OF IT BEING BUILT http://www.autoblog.com/photos/locus-plethore/139537/ another gallery More info on Canadian supercar the Locus Plethore is seeping southward like the Alberta clipper. Locus says it's nearly ready to take its first orders. The Plethore will come in 750-hp or 1300-hp versions from an 8.2-liter Chevrolet V8 hooked to a Tremec six-speed manual with a body of carbon fiber and a central driving position like the McLaren F1. It can fit three people of up to 6'6" in height, which is good news for NHL players and tall individuals who've made their fortune selling pancakes to the logging industry. http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/locusplethore/2186764 pics in a horrible color
The first link isn't working. But going by the pics in the second and third links, they both look like very rough mock-ups. The steering column looks like it was ripped out of a GM product, the wiper assembly is early Mercedes Benz 300 series, the engine is obviously a GM performance parts catalog special. The design is OK, but I think he was going to much for the Mclaren F1 looks with the center seating. The car seems to be for the most part, a parts bin special. I hope the final production version will be far more unique.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA............!!!! BEEEUUUAARKKK.....!!!! I just puked.
It is obviously in it's first stages of development but it does not look to bad Not very original though they seem to have stolen design characteristics from 3 or 4 different manufacturers. And that name has got to go what were they thinking But at least there is an attempt made for Canada good for them maybe they can be the automotive version of the AVRO Now that's what they should of called it..
Repost I've read about this car last year. Another 'wannabe' supercar manufactured in a glorified body shop. My friend and his dad have built custom choppers, and custom cars out of their garage. They bought 80% of the parts from the internet, and assembled most of the vehicles with tools from Princess auto. I think they could build the "Prethore" given the same equiptment and budget, and they will never be considered the next Pagani! LOL My point is that anyone with a credit card, a set of wrenches from Can Tire, and a used 350 chevy engine can build a 'supercar prototype'.
It is easy to be a critic, the time effort and creativity should be applauded. His efforts may not be perfect, but this comes with future development. Most people that take on this type of project are people like you and I, with a racing background and a love for cars. Some forum members are absolute geniuses with cars, others are learning. Some read articles, other wish that they could afford an exotic. Others can't afford the car issurance. What I don't understand is the bashing of someone that is trying to build up on their dream, not trying to get fame and glory but to put their thoughts out there and live the experience. A lot of hard work is in every detail that went into their effort. If all a person does is bash other peoples efforts it defeats the purpose of the forum. The forum is to create an arena for those that have a love for exotics. Bash me for making these statements but you are only letting other people on the forums point you out as someone that has nothing concrete to offer the exotic forums. This is a meeting place to share experiences, ideas and technical info to help us better enjoy our lifestyle. I drive an exotic(Testarossa), I am building a aluminum stroker twin turbo Cougar picklefork jetboat. I enjoy my lifestyle outside the forum. I meet with other exotic owners and enjoy our drives on the weekends. My 2 cents
Good one..! The first Plethore Prototypes are sitting in a "museum"..........LOL::: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't get me wrong, I champion these types of developments and have invested in similar ( albeit they are alternative energy vehicle co's), I just think its damn ugly, but I hope he sells a whack of them!
I hope the best for him, I am sure he has spent a lot of his hard earned money and thousands of hours of time creating the car. Mistakes happen along the way but he find a $$ backer to help him further develop his car. Yes there are similarities to other cars but the over all shape from the side is pleasing to the eye. No apparent out of place body protrusions, areas blend into each other overall. Looking at some of the other kits out there on a search, this one has potential. Here are ones that are not in its league. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jefe: I have put many beautiful pinatas in the storeroom, each of them filled with little surprises. El Guapo: Many pinatas? Jefe: Oh yes, many! El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas? Jefe: A what? El Guapo: A *plethora*. Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora. El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? Jefe: Why, El Guapo? El Guapo: Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has *no idea* what it means to have a plethora. Jefe: Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?
